A1 replies: Afaik UNSW, Adelaide, Curtin have Med internal transfer. CSU has Dent internal transfer.
Thanks for the reply A1. I read on UNSW website that you have to finish all of the 16 pre-requisite course at UNSW to qualify for lateral entry. Probably a dumb, question but does this suggest that If I transfer my Y1 credits completed at QUT to UNSW, I won't qualify for lateral entry unless I overload on the given courses? If this is true, do I have any other options for lateral entry programs I can transfer my credits into? Thank you so much for the help.

___________
A1 replies: It does look like for UNSW you need to somehow complete the 16 courses at UNSW by end of 2nd year.
Otoh Adelaide seems okay with credit transfers from external
> Student and Program Transfers Procedure | Policies and Procedures | Adelaide University
"3.5. To be considered for an internal transfer at the undergraduate level, a student must have completed a minimum of one course within an Adelaide University program."

Curtin is not possible - "Curtin course switcher criteria : To course switch into MBBS, you must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree at Curtin University and not have a tertiary record from any other Australian or overseas university."

Hi A1 ,
I need clarification with so much confusion around, is it true that if student do a course in CSU orange ( say physio) then CSU/WSU give preference to CSU students when they apply via non-standard path?

Hi, I have gotten a UCAT score of 2400 with a split of 790 VR, 710 DM, and 900 QR. I am an SA local, metro and looking at an ATAR of 99+. What universities would I have a chance of getting into? How likely is Adelaide Med, and what would the lowest ATAR I would need to have for Adelaide Med to consider me? Thanks

___________
A1 replies: SA local UCAT 2400 you will definitely get an Adelaide interview.
There's no definitive lowest ATAR needed for Adelaide. Place-offer selection is based on 40% ATAR + 20% UCAT + 40% interview. A 99.9 applicant can fail with a poor interview, low 99s + 2400 UCAT can succeed with an excellent interview.
There's some chance you might get JMP interview. Also try push your ATAR to 99.5+ for UNSW. Best of luck.

I don’t think there is dedicated preference given for med applications (though there might be for dent?). That said, there is indirect preference due to potentially being a rural applicant and rural applicants do have a seperate entry scheme that is a bit less competitive.

Hi guys, I sat my UCAT a few weeks ago and these were my results:
Verbal Reasoning620
Decision Making650
Quantitative Reasoning660
Total Score1930
Situational Judgement645

Not ideal but not the worst? My chances are slim for an interview offer I think ....

Predicted ATAR of 95 - 98, non-rural, Adelaide. I'm trying to figure out my preference list for SATAC. Is it worth including medicine or just listing paramedicine and my other options? Thanks!

___________
A1 replies: SATAC gives 6 preference slots. Can you squeeze your other options into 5 and save one slot for Adelaide med, just in case?

Hey Guys! I did my ucat recently, and was wondering about my chances for any uni in Aus
Total: 2450

I am applying as a non rural, non gws NSW applicant. I'm on a gap year- ATAR is 98.95

___________
A1 replies: You should get interviews from WSU, JMP, Adelaide, and possibly Curtin, Notre Dame.

Yes, I'll, thanks! Would you recommend Melbourne Uni FFP? Is it worth paying the hefty fees? How difficult would it be to maintain 75% WAM and to clear the interview (they say - must perform satisfactorily in the Multi-Mini Interview (MMI)).

___________
A1 replies: I believe technically you need to achieve 75 WAM overall at the end of the undergrad, not maintain 75 throughout. If you incur a sub-75 semester you can strive for better than 75 next semester to average up. I don't think it's difficult for 99+ students.
While doing the UMelb FFP pathway you can:
1. Resit UCAT try for non-standard in 1st & 2nd years.
2. Sit GAMSAT go for CSP at the grad-entry schools including UMelb itself.
3. Failing both you have the FFP for backup, although it costs around $80-90k a year for 4 years on top of living expenses.

The FFP MMI is a touchy subject. Though UMelb says it's satisfactory pass/fail I fear UMelb could subtly use it as competitive (vs others in FFP pathway) to cut out IF the amount of applicants exceeds the available FFP places. But still, this pathway gives a backup option that students elsewhere don't have.
________

Do non-standards go in the same pool as school-leavers, or are there limited seats for them?

___________
A1 replies: JCU has a separate pool with 15-20 places for non-standards. The other schools UNSW, WSU, JMP, all in the same pool.
Btw despite not looking optimistic you should still submit 2-3 TAC applications (UAC, QTAC, SATAC, TISC for Curtin) this year because sometimes the schools change their selection criteria without us knowing. Best of luck.

Hi guys,
My name is Rue. Just did my UCAT yesterday, got a 2060. My predicted atar is around 97. I'm rural; MM3/RA2. What are my chances looking like for WSU, JMP, Monash, honestly I'll take anything. I'm just so confused because I haven't seen anyone on any forums who had gotten into med with scores like mine, maybe it's lowkey a sign haha?

___________
A1 replies: Being rural you should get interviews with these scores. Apply to all the schools you can reasonably move to.
Thanks! My first choice is WSU but my VR score was 680, which is low considering the emphasis they put in on this section. Would I still have a shot at interviews?

___________
A1 replies: Your 2060 is 687 unweighted average, which means your 680VR won't affect your WSU-weighted by much.
Based on last year 2060 would be 60ish %ile. You might want to double check the Interviews collated data thread last year, this one got CSU interview with 56th %ile (their WSU weighted was 673 vs yours 684)

i did my ucat today, im a non-standard gws applicant:
750 VR
770 DM
820 QR
overall: 2340

this is probably not good enough for JMP. but would this be good enough for WSU? and im also on track for a 7 GPA, would this make me competitive for unsw?

___________
A1 replies: Your WSU-weighted 768 should be enough for GWS interview.
GPA 7 + 2340 should be enough for UNSW interview. Well done.

Hey Guys!
I recently did my UCAT and got 2050 (+650 SJT). I think my chances this year for an interview are quite low.
I have a predicted 98.6 (+EAS so potentially up to 99.5+). I'm non-rural and from WA.
Any advice of where to go from here? Thank you :)

___________
A1 replies: I think 2050 is not enough for UWA regulars. But hopefully with EAS/Broadway it's possible.
Check whether you're eligible for SATAC UES. If yes 98.6 is boosted to 99.95 for Flinders.
Though 2050+650SJT is on the low side we never know what could happen. In this post Dank_Watu said one 2900+SJT got an offer last year

hi :)
im from wa and im looking at an atar of 99+ and ucat of 2270, im non-rural and i was just wondering what are the chances of getting an interview from monash looking like as well as for UWA.
thanks

___________
A1 replies: I'm fairly sure Monash is out of reach (unless you get SEAS or Monash Guarantee).
99 + 2270 should be enough to get UWA interview for WA local. Not sure about Curtin & Notre Dame but might as well include them in the TISC application.

Thanks for your reply A1!
Also, do you think I still have a chance for Curtin? I'm also thinking of trying for UTAS (as I'm eligible for EAS there) and potentially Bond and JCU. Thank you :)

___________
A1 replies: Sorry I don't know much about Curtin or UTas to help. I think UTas requires 99.95 for interstate.
JCU is unpredictable. ATAR 98.6 should get you a Bond invite to do the Psych test, which determines if you get an interview afterwards.

Hi, sat the UCAT a couple weeks ago and got a 2460 (890, 760, 810) and 639 for SJT. I'm nonstandard --- my ATAR sucked (94.3) and I'm most likely going to get a 6.5+ GPA (capped at 6.8125), non-rural. Whereabouts can I apply? I'm pretty sure my atar is borderline good for JMP, but I'm unsure as to the UCAT, and I don't meet the atar requirement for WSU --- but I think they consider GPA? Whereabouts can I foreseeably make interviews? Is UNSW a possibility? Thanks a lot!!!

___________
A1 replies: Unfortunately UNSW is out due to your ATAR missing the 96 threshold (still applicable after going non-standard).
2460 will almost certainly get JMP interview. Need to make sure you'll have completed 1year uni by end of year for JMP to use your GPA.
Your unheard of 890VR makes WSU-weighted 848, should be enough to get WSU interview even interstate, more so if NSW.
(Your ATAR is below WSU req'd 95.5, but luckily WSU takes 'best of' so your GPA 6.5+ will meet the 6.2 req'd.

Hi just sat the UCAT today and got:
VR 700
DM 740
QR : 880
Total 2320

I’m from WA and got a 96.85 ATAR, would there be any chance for me for any east unis? I also got an interview last year at UWA with an 87% ucat (3000) so I should get one again right? (Im broadway so atar boosted to 99.95) and does anyone have info on notre dame ucat cutoffs?
Thank you :)

___________
A1 replies: I predict 2320 to land higher than 90%ile. Since you got UWA interview last year with 87%ile you should get one again.
I can't see any possibility interstate. Even if you get Adelaide interview, the ATAR 96.85 will mean unlikely for a place offer (it's like UNSW sending DrDrLMG! an interview invite while giving her 5% chance of success).

The only school with a faint chance is JMP. If somehow 2320 gets an interview your offer chances are not affected by the 96.85 since it's a hurdle.
See in this post about Notre Dame > Post-UCAT Discussion 2025

Hi, I got a very low score 1700 UCAT :( , I'm non-standard with a current GPA 6.86, MM2/RA2 rural (Tasmania).
Is there any hope left for non standard undergrad. other than JCU or, should I try again next year.

Can anyone please guide about Psych test for Bonds uni? Is there any platform where i can do preparation from like we did for UCAT? any tips and tricks will be highly appreciated...Thanks

Hey A1,
This is for a friend.
He is VIC, non-rural.
He received a 2270 UCAT Score with 700, 670, 900 and 554 SJT.
He is predicted at 99.7+ ATAR wise and gets SEAS and UES/all other entry schemes in the state which pushes his ATAR to 99.95.
He is applying everywhere for Medicine, what unis are likely to give him an interview and what are his possibilities to get into Medicine like?
He is very very very good at interviews, so once he does receive an interview, I believe he will get selected but idk if he will get an interview at most places.

___________
A1 replies: Monash interview is a certainty. But unlikely 2270 will be enough for UQ, JMP, WSU, Adelaide, UWA.
UNSW is possible thanks to 99.7+. JCU is unpredictable.
See this post about Curtin Notre Dame > Post-UCAT Discussion 2025

hi :)
im from wa and im looking at an atar of 99+ and ucat of 2270, im non-rural and i was just wondering what are the chances of getting an interview from monash looking like as well as for UWA.
thanks

___________
A1 replies: I'm fairly sure Monash is out of reach (unless you get SEAS or Monash Guarantee).
99 + 2270 should be enough to get UWA interview for WA local. Not sure about Curtin & Notre Dame but might as well include them in the TISC application.
tysm, is there any chance for monash if i could increase my atar to around 99.85+?
thanks again

___________
A1 replies: Yes 99.85+ makes Monash interstate possible.
Also makes USC straight offer possible. Double incentives.

Did my ucat and got a score of:
720 VR
740 DM
880 QR
Overal 2340
How likely are my chances for a wsu interview as a gws student. Any hope i make the cut or is it looking rough?

___________
A1 replies: You're borderline for GWS interview. Let's hope for the best.

This is for a friend's son.
He is Non-Standard applicant (1st year Uni) with ATAR 98.8 and UCAT 2410 (VR-730, DM-800, QR-880). He is also Non-GWS candidate. Wondering what are his chances for interview calls from WSU, JMP or Interstate or other UNIs? Pls advice, Thanks a lot

___________
A1 replies: 2410 is probably borderline for JMP interview. UNSW is likely if het gets 6.5+ GPA.
WSU-weighted 774 is ~20 marks below non-GWS cutoff last year. Not promising but still worth a try I think.
JCU & Bond are the other options, both dependent on his uni GPA.
