Hi everyone, I just completed one of the official UCAT mocks and found that the keyboard shortcuts (alt+n) did not work. Could anyone please confirm that they work in the actual test?
Hey derm4eva,
I did the exam yesterday and all the shortcuts worked perfectly for me. Alt+F for Flag, Alt+N for next question, Alt+P for previous question, Alt+C for calculator etc. all worked for me. Good luck for your exam!

Tha

Thanks legend! I low-key panicked because my practice score dropped without the short cuts. Congrats on your amazing score! 😊
No problem and thank you so much! I noticed a few of the shortcuts in the official mocks didn't work as well but I can assure you that all of it worked for me. Feel free to ask anymore questions. Good luck again!

Does anyone remember whether headphones are provided at the testing venue? I taking the test at Bridge St (Sydney), which is a Pearson Professional Centre.

From what I’ve read, no venues allow head phones. Some (all?) supply ear plugs, or you can take your own (still in packaging).

Ah yes, I just realised the document I looked at was for testing centres in India 🤦‍♂️
LOL I have got to say this is so far one of the best posts on medstudentsonline in 2021 :)

With that being said, I asked one of my friends who sat UCAT ANZ in 2020 (thanks Wolfles) and they said they do not provide earplugs. If you plan on sitting UCAT ANZ at Pearson Bridge St Sydney, make sure you bring your own (in the original packaging untampered with).

Edit: jennnnnnnnnnn confirmed that they are giving orange ear plug things this year

Were the markers/pens good? And roughly how many pages of laminated paper were you given? Thanks
The markers we got we nice quality and quite thin. (Not like whiteboard markers or anything)
For the paper they gave us about 5 large (bigger then A4) double sided pages bound together, so plenty of space

Hey I'm a long time lurker making my first post
Verbal Reasoning740 - Found test much easier than practice.
Decision Making730 - Test mildly easier than practice
Quantitative Reasoning730 - Around the same as practice
Abstract Reasoning690 - Has always been my worst section... I noticed not difference LOL. Guessed like a solid 3 sets at least.
Total Score2890

Situational Judgement628 - It was somewhat different from my practice material but I didn't put much practice time into it

Date completed: 17/07/21
Venue: Pearson Parramatta
General thoughts on your results: I did way better than I expected- I got really sick in the week before the exam and sat it in pain with the only reschedule dates on weekdays during my trials tor right before :/ (Not contagious though no need to worry)
I was doing way better in practice (raw scores around 80% VR, 80% DM, 90%+ QR. AR was still ass though)

General comments on your experience: I personally found the parra center really stuffy towards the end of the two hours... might just be a result of not feeling well though. Otherwise it was nice and quiet + pen worked.
Someone who was doing the test at the same time as me had their computer crash on them though :/

Key take away: Guys don't get yourself sick before an important exam. D:

Congrats!! What are some of your strategies/approaches for VR?

Congrats!! What are some of your strategies/approaches for VR?
I read the entire passage in ~20-25 secs enough to understand the key points + author intention but not thoroughly enough to memorise names or dates. Then the questions 15-20s each based on the first reading unless the question specifically asked for some definition or date where I would use the time I originally saved by doing the other questions quickly to spend a bit more time specifically rereading a key section.
While I was practicing I also skipped any sequential questions that asked what was the correct order something happened because those take ages.

General thoughts: Overall really happy that I was able to improve on each subtest and my overall score. Hopefully this will give me a better percentile this year! The test centre was great, however my computer was not working at the start of the test which delayed my start time by 40 minutes. Didn't help with the nerves but it got working in the end. The staff were lovely. Great experience for an otherwise scary day!! :p I found VR and SJ to be as expected. DM and AR were particularly difficult for me and I didn't do as well as I had during my practice (although I'm still happy to have improved). QR was easier than expected. All in all super happy and now I can stop worrying about it :yay:
