^^ if enough of you put your official mock data in that thread I can put it in a digestible calculator.

When i was studying for GAMSAT i used a similar calculator that someone made off PagingDr results and it was super uplifting

Did the exam today, got 2890,
VR 600
DM 680
QR 780
AR 830
As a rural applicant I’m over the moon with that score. Let’s gooooooooooo.
CONGRATS!! You smashed it!

How did you find the exam relative to the official mocks or resources, if you can answer :). I’m mostly worried about VR since I did horribly last year on it.

Hi everyone, been a lurker for a while but I just had my UCAT today! I am a repeat test taker taking a gap year (completed year 12 last year) btw and I'm also a metro applicant

Date completed: 03/07/21
Venue: Box Hill (Victoria)
General thoughts on your results:
Super happy with my score of 3180 which was MUCH better than my last year result of 2710! Goes to show getting a "disappointing" score the first time is perfectly okay as you have another chance to try again
General comments on your experience:
I did everything different this year compared to last year from how I approached exam day to my actual strategies for tackling UCAT questions. This experience was much better for me - the admin people were really nice and most importantly, I had a positive mindset!!! I think having experience from last year was the main reason I was able to stay reasonably calm which probably contributed a fair bit to my score. Overall, I feel super relieved !!

I read a few success stories on here last year about repeat test takers which actually gave me hope so hopefully sharing my experience can do the same :)

Absolutely insane score!! Scoring 3000+ is something only I can dream of, personally.

Do you mind sharing your score breakdown by section? And how did you feel about each one?

Sure :)

VR has always been my weakest subtest so I wasn't expecting anything amazing for it, tbh I'm actually quite satisfied with what I got. And it's always hard having the very first subtest be your weakest one since that's when you have the most nerves! The passages weren't super long like some of the ones I got last year so I was really happy about that.
DM I found it to be pretty reasonable and maybe a tiny bit challenging but pretty similar to the official practice tests I think
QR is my fav one and personally, as someone who enjoys maths lol, I was able to get through all the questions and found them to be easier than official mocks
AR I also found quite reasonable and nothing out of the ordinary

This is just based on my experience and the particular test I got so it may not be the same for everyone!

Congrats on the amazing score!!! Just wanted to ask what things you did differently this year compared to last year since I got a similar score to you last year?

Sure :)

This is a wonderful score and it's so great to see such a big improvement! :) How did you approach AR questions? Is AR something you're naturally strong at or was it that the patterns was reasonable/easy?

Congrats on the amazing score!!! Just wanted to ask what things you did differently this year compared to last year since I got a similar score to you last year?
thank you! i'll list some of the things I did differently

- firstly I got to spend more time studying for ucat since I didn't have the pressure of year 12. i made sure to do at least some study for it every single day
- with the available mocks i had, I timed them so I did one each week (preferably same time of the day as my actual ucat). last year I didn't plan this so well and ended up squeezing in like 4 mocks the week of my ucat which was probably not the best idea.
- I took the time to review BOTH correct and incorrect answers of my mocks instead of only the incorrect ones...sometimes my correct answers were just a lucky guess!
- I went into the exam feeling positive and happy rather than worried that I wouldn't get a good score. this is sooo important
- I didn't cram this year
- instead of wearing trackies and slides I wore jeans and proper shoes LOL...it actually made me feel more mentally awake
- I read a few boring Wikipedia articles before my test mostly about history

some of these are pretty subtle changes but worked in my favour! I'm sure there are more but i can't think of any more at the moment. but for sure my biggest tip was to remain calm and not go into panic mode which is easier said than done, but if you've done enough practice you'll realise its just like another mock!

thank you! it really is rewarding to see hard work translate into improvement.

AR used to be my second worst subtest. last year I got 670 and this year I got 870 so I definitely was not a natural!
the thing I found that helped me the most was just lots of practice with AR questions and increasing my exposure to different patterns. and for the ones I kept getting wrong id write them down in a notebook. i eventually started to recognise patterns I had seen before or just know what kind of things I should look for in unfamiliar ones. nothing magical really, just lots of practice!

Firstly Congrats!!!!!!, amazing mark :)! Secondly just curious if you obtained any full mock marks similar to your actual ucat mark of 3180 :)

thank you so much!
i actually have never gotten this high in any of my mocks, only just above 3000/ high 2900s.
Great job, SCL!

Just out of curiosity, how consistent were you at getting those scores in the mocks? Also, did you find the sections to be of similar difficulty to them? Specifically the QR section from the official question bank...

Sorry for the barrage of questions 😅 I'm just sitting my test on Wednesday and dream of getting the kind of score you got.

Thank you Miata!
No worries, i understand how you feel!! a lot of people have said that the actual QR is easier than the offical mocks which I also agree with, but i am also a person who likes maths which was my strongest subject in school. again, this is based on my experience and may not apply to everyone!
