Adelaide UAdel Medicine: General Discussion

Just wondering I haven’t seen anything about required vaccinations for first year Med students, does any or know or have read anything about this ?

Below is the information regarding immunization that was in the same link as above. I believe we will be required to go the university health practice before we start our placements to be screened and immunized as required.

"Immunisation: Students undertaking clinical placements are required to have the appropriate level of immunisation. Immunisation records are requested by clinical venues prior to Placements. Prior to commencing professional placements, students will be advised by their program area: To consult the University Health Practice to be screened and immunised for the following infectious disease as recommended by the Immunisation Guidelines for Health Care Workers in South Australia 2014 Policy. Failure to adhere to these guidelines means that a student will not be allowed to attend clinical placements. It is a student's responsibility to acquire their immunisations record and take it with them to all clinical placements.
As part of your course enrolment, all students are required to have blood tests to determine their immunity status to Hepatitis A, B and C, HIV, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, and Chicken Pox. Students will need to provide evidence of previous vaccinations, including for the aforementioned diseases as well as Pertussis, Diphtheria, Tetanus and Polio. "

Thanks heaps for the info ! :)

As in is there a social media group chat for cohort commencing 2020?

These are usually created by the relevant Med Soc once they have a confirmed cohort list so there might not be one yet. There will be one eventually though, if it’s not already up and running.

Hey, are u in the AMSS class of 2025 fb group? There are already quite a few group 'chats' that med students have made, based on friends and mutual friends across several social media platforms, but there isn't any 1 formal group chat

Please post interview invite info into the relevant thread when the info is available. Good luck everyone!

ETA: UAdel are traditionally a ‘roll them out over the day’ type Uni. I’m not sure if this year is different but that’s how it’s been in the past.
