Hey Cal i needed more clarification as you answered for an IB 42 raw but I wanted to know IB 39 with LOTE points,

hope that’s ok
Ok, that is all good, next time redo the post style, and add a note. But yes regardless, if you have a 99 or above you are fine, but again I would say that 93+ is safe, but 91-92 is still a good spot.

When posting to this thread, please use the appropriate template as made clear in post one (and by the posts of 99.9% of users). Posts forgoing this template will not be answered from this point onwards as important information can be missed and accurate responses more difficult to provide.

Also, this is not the place for asking random questions, please use the appropriate course or university-specific thread for that.

Applying for: Medicine and Dentistry
Application type: non-standard, 1st year
ATAR/GPA: 96.40 (2019), 87 WAM (La Trobe doesn't give GPA), contacted QTAC and it converts to 6.22 GPA
UCAT Percentile Rank: 83rd %ile
VR: 520
DM: 750
QR: 800
AR: 750
Total: 2820
SJ: 659
Current State: VIC
Applying to: La Trobe Dent (internal transfer), Griffith Dent, JCU Med/Dent, JMP, Bond Med (didn't pass psychometric test in February 2020 for May 2020 intake)
Rural/GWS/Indigenous applicant: No
Specific questions:
Based on what happened with UCAT scores this year, is it likely that WAM requirement for La Trobe Dent will increase, or is the cohort too small for that assumption?
My final WAM isn't released until December so am I ineligible for first-round interviews at JCU?
Is it true that Bond uses the same psychometric test scores from the previous year?

For Dent, JCU is your best bet, with a good written,
I think you are in the running for internal transfer, but MrWhippe said cutoff was 90WAM last year, so would be touch and go.
Good luck!

JCU is likely your only Med option. You can only sit the Bond psychometric test once in 12 months, so it will depend on the date of your 2020 assessment and the date of your 2021 assessment, I think. It's a bit of a silly system if you ask me.

(Possible update)

Maybe UWA, probably Curtin. Probably UAdel, no chance at Flinders. No chance at UTas. low chance at UNSW, yes at WSU and JMP, UQ is a yes and JCU pending an application and griffith is a no. USC is a maybe but very borderline if anything. No at monash.

Annotated results makes it impossible for us to say, unfortunately. We only had a single instance of someone in such a position getting an offer anywhere last year (to UTAS, and with a much higher combo than yours of 99.90/~76th%ile, though they were not rural).

Your combo, as it stands, is too low for everywhere unless they grant a substantial boost to your UCAT (which they may do! We simply just don’t know). Have you been provided any information on how annotated results are dealt with?

TLDR: we don’t have enough experience with annotated results to know how they are managed.

Specific Question: Chances of getting an interview at any of the above unis? If I have a chance at any, when's a good time to start interview prep? If I get a 4.0 GPA this sem (decent chance, depending on exams) my GPA will bump up to 6.56. If otherwise I can remove it from my academic record to avoid a 3.0 from dragging it down.

Your only UCAT uni option from your list is likely to be JMP*. Your UCAT combo isn't favourable for JPM/WSU, and your academic result won't meet the UNSW cut-off of 99.25 that was put in place last year (you'd need them to reduce this for 2021 entry and that is unlikely to occur as typically requirements only get more stringent, not the other way around). JCU is also on the cards, though 6.56 would be much more competitive for you than 6.125 (whereas both will be equally competitive for JMP).

* You could also try Curtin if you're willing to move to WA. (ETA: and graduate entry, obviously, via GAMSAT).

Good luck!

Your UCAT is definitely on the low side for UNSW. You will likely (just) get an interview, but will need a pretty exceptional performance to land an offer.

What about UQ and Adelaide? I saw in some other posts that there isn't much info on both of these but what are your thoughts?

Tbh, I'd say UAdel is a no-go with a UCAT of 90th and being a non-local. It was around 90th last year when there was no preferential treatment of locals. UQ will hopefully offer you an invite though.

ETA: your best bets will be JMP and JPM/WSU. And Griffith if the 99.75 eventuates.

You'll definitely receive a JPM interview, and you'll likely receive a JMP one, too (the cut off last year was 90th, so let's hope it doesn't shift, though it may slightly due to their pathway students moving into Med for the first time in 2021). EAS will help you out for UNSW, but as it's impossible to say by how much, you'll just have to keep your fingers crossed for this one. JPM is your most certain. Best of luck!
