This is not necessarily true for stoompidoompi’s case - as a non-standard, their GPA and UCAT are sufficient if Bachelor’s, pretty much a shoo-in if Master’s.
The majority of non-standard (inc. interstate) students get in with less impressive UCATs and similar GPAs, myself included. An interstate non-standard in secured a 2021 intake place offer with a sub 6 GPA (Master’s) and similar UCAT, so I don’t see any issues with stoompi’s Curtin interview chances, unless GPA requirements change drastically.

However, most university admission scores has followed this increase e.g. JMP UCAT cutoff was 2840 for 2020 intake and 2980 for 2021 intake. Here is an applicant from last year that you advised that would get an interview however, eventually did not (GPA: 6.95 (Bachelor Honours)/UCAT: 2880 ; Curtin score (ATAR/GPA (60%), UCAT (40%) of: 91.57143 Curtin - Curtin Medicine: General Questions and Discussion ). The OP's Curtin score would be 90.50476.

Admittedly, that person's case still baffles me, particularly because they were a WA applicant - unsure if they ended up challenging that in the end. How did you come to calculate stoompi's notional ATAR for use in the weightings? As far as I'm aware, I thought we hadn't cracked that code yet, but the level of the qualification seems to come into play (Curtin is MUCH more forgiving with GPAs of higher level degrees) - maybe stoompidoompi can clarify to better advise on chances? In any case, of the 5~ or postgrads I've spoken to in the 2021 Y1 cohort there were still a decent mix of high-6 GPAs (mix of Bachelors, Grad Dips and Masters) with varying UCAT scores (hovering around 90th+) that were successful.
I guess only time will tell, but I'm still hopeful that stoompi has a chance!

Honestly, I wouldn't think so. Your options regardless of your UCAT score at limited, if you sit at a low 99 or a 98 because you need both to be competitive. I'd honestly recommend that you start looking at alternate things to do in uni that you enjoy, smash those out and try to retake the UCAT during your time there/GAMSAT. Another little ray of hope, you can laterally transfer into Curtin's med with a good enough mark in curtin and a good UCAT so if you know you are deadset and you want to have every opportunity here in WA to get in, I'd recommend that pathway. joking just thought I might add that even if this year doesn't work out, in future years you can always apply as a non-standard to unis like newcastle/western who have ATAR/gpa hurdles that you qualify for

Sorry your post seems to have been missed earlier.
Unfortunately 78th%ile won't be enough for the interstate schools. Adelaide interview is quite likely if it goes the same as last year (I read from ucatboy last year's cutoff was 71%ile for SA locals).

Not sure about USyd, you should get Monash & UNSW interviews. Your scores don't give a clear advantage over other rural applicants so you will need to do a strong interview.

Btw why not JPM/JMP, because you can't move to their locations?

Unfortunately your combo of scores (UCAT and ATAR, not just SJ) means you’re unlikely to be competitive anywhere unless you’re a) South Australian, then UAdel is possible, or b) Victorian with Monash Guarantee. You didn’t fill in that portion of the template so I can’t be certain.

I remember someone said UNSW gives EAS 1 or 2 or 3 ATAR ranks. With 2 interview would be certain, 1 is a maybe.

Thank you so much for getting back to me. I've enrolled for the Joint Medical Program (JMP) which is between the University of Newcastle and New England (not very sure) but ideally I would prefer to get into Monash, and as an alternative unsw. I realise that I did kind of flunk my ucat, but I have quite good interview skills so I'm confident that will be one of my strengths. Sorry if this sounds repetitive, but in your opinion would you say I have a good chance of getting in if I smash the interview? If that's the case, it gives me so much hope because I was very devastated after I got my ucat results back. And my career advisor has given me super evasive answers, but is it a good idea to have a bachelor of biomedicine as a backup course if you don't get into med? Once again, I really appreciate your help and time

Theoretically any applicant, once their ATAR+UCAT achieves interview selection, a top/near-top interview should get them a final ranking high enough to qualify for an offer. Otherwise the school would be wasting its time & the student's time interviewing them for nothing.

(One exception is Adelaide med - ATAR eligibility 90.0, invites based solely on UCAT. So one with 91.0 + 96th%ile gets an interview but I don't think a top interview can lift overall to the top 1/4th or 1/3rd for an offer. The fact Adelaide doesn't count ATAR in interview selection then counts it 40% of final ranking leads to this anomaly).
