What do they mean by "part of your degree" - does the paper we take need to be necessary for us to graduate?
im pretty sure it just has to be under your degree (regardless of you needing it to graduate not). i knew someone who was enrolled under both BBiomedSc and BSc and they had some of their summer school papers under BBiomedSc (but they graduated with a BSc) and it didnt count towards their GPA because it "wasnt under their graduated degree". they didnt need it to graduate, but it wouldve counted towards their GPA if they moved it into their BSc degree. they still got in thankfully.

so im assuming you just have to have all of the papers you want to be counted into your GPA calculation into one degree, and it would count towards your GPA even if you dont need it to graduate. like if you were contemplating between BSc and BBiomedSc and you have some papers under one and some papers under another, youd want to move it all into either one degree BEFORE YOU GRADUATE. tbh if my pxxs paper doesnt count its so annoying i basically paid $1000 to learn about hieroglyphics and egypt lol i need it to count towards my gpa.

Thank you! Makes more sense now!

Is it worth still applying to med and doing the UCAT with a projected GPA of 7.5? This is based on scores that I think are feasible for me. Im general entry and I've only just realised I haven't been excluding paper points in the GPA calculation. I was originally calculating it to over 8.2 but have realised it was wrong. I don't know what's going to happen with the GPA updates in July. I'm considering doing a PGDipSci for next year as I understand that it's slightly more coursework focussed than research. Advice would be appreciated :)

Honestly, id still apply for UCAT if u can afford the time and energy. It's still worth keeping your options open

100%. The GPA for getting in has been slowly getting lower over the past few years. You never know what could happen. Imagine checking the GPA required to get in next year and seeing you would've gotten in. Apply for Auckland too as they also consider UCAT score and interview. If you haven't already, try do an extra 200-level paper or two next sem as it really helps your GPA.

You can check here for the Graduate Entry GPA for medicine.

In terms of papers, I'd suggest picking papers that you are interested in. I cannot say which papers are easy and which are not because they are constantly changing every year. In my experience, GENE222, MATS204, ANAT241, NEUR201, FINC204, PHSL, are easy. I heard EDUC252 and ZOOL were also easy. Hope this helps. All the best!

I gues the easiness depends from person to person, I personally find ANAT241 my most content heavy and so hardest paper this sem
