UQ UQ Dentistry: Admissions General Discussion

Do you think a score of 3720 would have a chance?
Honestly its hard to predict. The cutoff for entry into 2024 was a 3684, which many people above that this year have yet to receive offers.

3800 has received an offer, hence why I’d say 3791 could also too but nothing is certain.

Keep ur hopes up and good luck!

Hi Guys
I just started to look at graduate dentistry at UQ. I just want to confirm. As long as I have done 8 subjects to maintain 6.5/7 and I will get into FFP dentistry at UQ?Do I have to make these 8 subjects in one degree? Or I can make them as non-unit subject? Thank you.

You need to have a bachelor degree and gamsat score to be able to apply for uq graduate entry dental

Thanks for sharing. I completed a bachelor a while ago. My cousin said I only need to do 8 subjects (not too sure if they will be counted as GD) and maintain at least 6.5/7, can get in UQ. GAMSAT will be recognised as secondary differentiator to rank student. So I don't know if what he mentioned is right, I also checked with UQ…

Just got an official response from the admissions team at UQ. 3793 UCAT needed for the first dent offer round. Obviously potential for that to go down with some ppl declining for other offers they may have gotten, wouldn't assume by too much but that's the number it's at so far.

Previous years UCAT scores for entry into dent in 2022, 2023 and 2024 were 3590, 3650 and 3684 respectively. +110 leap for 2025 from 2024 lol

Hope that my son can get it in the coming weeks!

It is not unexpected the UCAT score requirement across all medicine and dentistry courses are getting higher as the UCAT scores attained are getting higher and higher over the years, likely attributed to candidates becoming more familiar with the UCAT questions and doing more intensive practices. The more relevant and reflective indicator is the relative ranking in the pool of UCAT candidates, i.e. which percentile the candidate falls in

Will be interesting to see how that comes into play from this year with the restructuring of the UCAT and removal of AR. Personally I think percentiles needed for most med/dent courses will go up yet again regardless

roughly how much do you think it would go down by?

Interestingly, UQ hasn't released the final UCAT cutoff for last year, unlike previous years. However, the lowest UCAT score reported on MSO was around 20 points below the initial cutoff. In the two years before that, the cutoff dropped by approximately 90 points, which UQ explicitly acknowledged. Given that this year’s first-round cutoff jumped by over 100 points, I think it's reasonable to predict a significant drop. I guess is around 60–70 points?
