UQ UQ Medicine: Provisional Entry Questions and Discussion

Thanks everyone for letting me know, I'll update the data in the collated interview thread.

NSW applicant here, I have got an interview and booked it and the pre-interview zoom session (forgot what they call it). However, I added my 0845 interview to google calendar using the link on the page and it shifted to 0945... So the times advertised/available I think are actually in AEST, not AEDT... Just a warning for others... smh QLD wanna go do their own thing all the time...
How did you book the pre interview briefing session? I booked the interview and got the confirmation email.

I did it yesterday and can't really remember, but I think after booking the interview, it just notified me that I also needed to book a pre-interview session and gave me another link as per what it says;

Welcome to the scheduling system for The University of Queensland Doctor of Medicine Multiple Mini Interviews for the provisional entry 2021 intake. Interviews will be conducted via Zoom video link. Once you have confirmed your preferred session, you will see a link to book your pre-interview briefing session. During this session, we'll provide you with further information relating to the logistics of the interviews and will answer any questions that you may have. All times are presented in AEST.

Out of curiosity: anyone on the forum with a UCAT of 91st or 92nd who hasn't landed a UQ interview? Just trying to gauge the cutoff. Still looking a lot higher than I expected it would be, but perhaps they are yet to send all of the invites out.
The lowest UCAT score I have seen on MSO so far (non-rural applicants) for an interview invite at UQ is 3010. And most of them seem to be interstate applicants.

You need to book it from the interview booking confirmation page (otherwise they will cancel your interview) there is a "Please make your booking here." link:

This one ^ (In case you closed the page)

I called UQ and they said cutoff was 2990 for non-rural

Does anyone know how many they called for interview. I was thinking around 300 but that seems unlikely given how high the cutoff is.

They said they'd be interviewing 400 to 500 candidates. However, at a 93rd percentile cut-off, based on roughly 14,000 candidates taking the UCAT, they have a pool of 980 candidates to choose from. Assuming half of them were non-standard / did not apply to UQ, that still leaves them with a pool of 490 candidates.

I'm on 85th percentile but on my QTAC application it says "status not yet determined" so I'm not exactly sure what that means :(

I imagine they are seeing how many acceptances/declines they get for the initial interview round before they decide how many to offer as top up interview invites. Unfortunately I’m thinking if the current cutoff is a strong 93rd for non-rural applicants then 85th is not likely to land one.

Let's just hope all those interstates reject so I can get a place. :p

How does the top-up interview thing work exactly. Is it after the initial interviews have been held? After offers come out? It wouldn't be after offers would it? At that point they surely have a long waiting list from the initial interviews that they can call up from to fill the 140 spots.

Hey guys. I just got off the phone with UQ admissions to ask whether they had received my amended REAS supporting documents - basically, I submitted them before UQ's closing date, however, a few days after the closing date QTAC contacted me saying I needed another document. I submitted it and received no further correspondence, so I was worrying that they had not received it. However, last night I received an interview invite so I called them today just to confirm that all the information was updated and I was part of the Rural entry (it is, which is the only reason I got an offer (2860 UCAT score)). Interesting that they accepted supporting documents after the closing date (not complaining though).

In the call, they said that the cut off for rural entrants UCAT score was 2550. Additionally, they said that it was unlikely (as in, no) more offers would be released right now, however, there may be more released after interviews are conducted and ATARS have been released - people may not get high enough ATARs. They said: people who missed out should watch their QTAC correspondence, but should largely look at other options :/.

Finally, I asked about the little interview applicant briefing thing - everyone needs to book one, booking will be open until all spots are filled but you need to book before your interview. It's just a 15 or so minute zoom where you watch a video that explains the MMI process, how you can't have papers in front of you whilst doing it, agreeing not to record etc. After the video, a real person comes on and explains a few more things (idk what) and you can ask any questions you have. It isn't assessed or anything.

My UCAT result is 2990, interstate no special considerations, and I didn't get an interview offer. So I wonder if the 'cut-off' means higher than, not equivalent. Is anyone sure that there will be another round of interview invitations in Jan?

one of my friends called UQ and they said the cut off was 2999 this year.

also spoke to my careers counsellor who spoke over the phone with them and said that they are considering a second round after ATARs come out (dotwingz i confirmed this with her yesterday, but still whether it comes to fruition we wont know)

How can the UCAT cut-off be 2999? Isn't it be 3000?
