JPM WSU/CSU JPM: Non-standard Entry

Hey does anyone know how to/if you can access the "edit tertiary qualification"? I have my degree (more than one year but unfinished) listed as my qualification but I can't edit it. Some of the options like "how long have you studied" are blanked out. I want to resolve it and make sure there is no possibility for any errors in my application. I think WSU uses ATAR if GPA doesn't meet the threshold (for those with unfinished degrees) so I don't want anything to go wrong there.

You can call UAC make sure they have your ATAR, then even if they get your GPA wrong you will still qualify via ATAR.

If your concern is they mistake you as having completed a degree, I don't think that will happen as UAC will use your uni student number to obtain your academic records from your uni, which then shows you have not completed.

Hey everyone, Just wondering what the process was regarding applying to WSU for medicine as a post-graduate student? I just finished a Bachelor of Physiotherapy with Honours at the University of Queensland with a GPA of 5.94. What is the process for me to apply and start in 2023? I've never done the UCAT and no longer qualify for it

Why don’t you qualify for UCAT? If you intend to apply to JPM then you’ll have to do UCAT as it’s an integral component of the application process (you can see all this info on their website).

Can you still do UCAT if you’re post graduate?

Of course. It’s for undergrad courses, so if you’re applying to an undergraduate degree (as JPM’s medical degree is currently classified), then you do UCAT. If you’re applying to graduate entry universities then you do GAMSAT. Or you do both if you want to open up all your options.

Omg! Thanks for your help? What’s the score that WSU takes? And if I’ve done an honours degree does this change my GPA requirement?

All this info has historically been on the JPM website so I’d recommend starting there.

GPA requirements listed here - General Applicants | MD Application

If you've completed an undergrad with honours there's no minimum GPA required. Thats good news, except worth noting the GPA component is just a threshold, it's your UCAT score and interview ranking that determine if you get in. Good luck for when you apply!

Hi, so if you apply and meet the GPA threshold, do they look at a UCAT threshold as well or is it just your overall score from the UCAT combined with the interview to determine if you get in or not?

I called UAC about my tertiary qualification mistake and they somehow made it worse and now it says I have been studying 5 years part-time when it should say 2. I really hope they won't use this and dismiss my ATAR because I need that to pass the threshold using my ATAR not my GPA.

What was the original mistake if you don't mind me asking? And I'm pretty sure WSU/CSU will use either your ATAR or GPA, basically whatever is highest.

I'm almost certain I did nothing wrong, but one day my "tertiary qualifications" was un-editable and a few of the spaces were missing. Now the spaces have been filled in, but they picked a random number generator and filled the spaces in.

With your tertiary qualification did you do the full course load? (4 subjects/sem) or do some additional subjects in summer/winter sessions?

Yeah, I did summer sessions. I just really hope they don't accidentally mistake me for having a completed degree because I need WSU to use my ATAR to pass the threshold. These UAC employees fr making my blood pressure go up.

I think that is the reason why. I had the same issue but basically, I did 3 subjects a semester and the remaining subjects in summer/winter. However, when I inputted that into UAC they also said I had been studying for a crazy long number of part time years. This shouldn't matter though because even if you are studying for 'X' amount of part time years, WSU will look at the full time equivalent and they even detail the expected GPA depending on how many units you've completed on their admissions site. But regardless they should look at whatever's highest.

Also, I think the reason why your details are uneditable is because UAC has now cross-checked these details with the Uni and they have been confirmed.
