2019 Entry Interview Invites - Collated

Ikr I have no idea why I got an interview. I wasn't expecting it at all
We've not had any NZ students report interview invites to WSU, but I suspect that's more due to numbers here at MSO, rather than anything like no invites being extended to NZ applicants.
Unfortunately, your UMAT is looking like it will be too low for WSU, which is the only one of the three Unis you've asked about that have sent out invites to non-rural applicants so far.

Good spot, totally missed that. It appears they have just recycled last year's email.
So this is incredibly crude data and mostly just speaks to my skills for procrastination but: I looked at the following re. WSU interview invites.
We know that they have 15 places on offer for rural applicants, but (I don't think) really have much sense of how the remaining places are divided between GWS and non-GWS/non-rural applicants*.
15 as a percentage of 110 (~total places on offer to domestic students as suggested by BethMark) is 13.6% of the cohort. Interestingly, we've had 4/29 reported interview invites here in the rural category, reflecting 13.8% of invites reported. This suggests to me our data might be close to reflective and that we may therefore be able to use it to extrapolate a little further.
This may suggest that approximately 55% of places on offer are for GWS applicants, 14% for rural applicants, and 30% for non-GWS/non-rural applicants (with the remaining 1%ish for applicants on the indigenous pathway). Of course, with a sample size this low (n=29), it's a risky call, but the 3 minutes its taken me to do these calculations and type this up was a nice break from the bone pathology I'm supposed to be revising

ETA: I just looked at the data from last year (because, LOL, pathology), and while it seems the rural numbers were again pretty consistent, the GWS/non-GWS split was much closer to 50/50 than it has been this year, so, again, grain of salt and all that jazz!

I was under the impression they interviewed approx three times the amount of places, wouldnt that be 45 instead of 29? Or have I missed something reporting that it is just 29 interview offers?
We've had 29 interview invites reported here to MSO (so far); of those 29, 4 were reports from rural applicants, equating to 13.8% of total reports here to MSO (and largely corresponding to the reported figure of 13.6ish% of rural places in the wider WSU cohort).
Yes, there are generally 45 total rural interviews held, but only 15 place offers (out of approximately 110 total) which is the more relevant number for these calculations.
If it still doesn't make sense, please let me know!

Hi LMG, Early rise for me. I used to wonder how you are devoting so much time in MSO amidst your hectic schedule doing MBBS Y1 as I am in a similar boat but some 17000 km away. Hats off to your dedication and of course impeccable Time Management. I have an exam on Monday on all topics of 6 weeks of lectures and so much to cover just in Cardio Vascular, Neuroanatomy and OBGYN let alone the Orthopaedic Pathology. You are a genius as even after putting in bull work close to 2 a.m. every night, for the past few weeks I am shaking and unable to cover the revision...I tested myself with BMJ On examination and Passmedicine Q bank to the first-year level on some topics...I should Pass (hopefully) unless they jack up the pass mark close to 70 ...it happens here

That is correct. I contacted them yesterday and they were receptive and kind. I was informed that we can expect the e-mail on Monday afternoon. Having said that it could change as it did with ACER on UMAT Results release timing.

You are one of two people to report hearing directly from JMP that Monday is the day, so it’s looking like a weekend of waiting still to come!
Re. your other post. I’m also still working as a Clinical Psychologist so yeah, time management has been up there as a skill I’ve needed to perfect this year. That said, I’m also much (much) older than your average Med student, with many years of study behind me. I definitely think this has helped me not get too carried away with study and perceptions of study requirements.
ETA: yeah, our pass mark usually sits well above 50% too, though it’s not got to 70 yet!
OMG. You are a super human as I am a novice much younger and just turned 18. I am sorry if I have crossed the line in my posts. I must learn a lot from people like you who are sure to inspire young students to go that one step further in learning. Regarding the JMP for Monday afternoon release, I would take it cautiously although the response was from JMP unit. I did not want to be intrusive to request the cut off for S1, I am sure they would not disclose that one. Good luck to everyone
