Hey guys, just had a quick question about how to order my preferences for NSW- right now, it's the 3 med, followed by USyd law and UNSW law. I scraped by the lowest selection rank last year for USyd law, which was 99.5 (I got 99.55), and received an email from the uni (and a bunch of other unis) encouraging me to put the course from their uni first. Was wondering if there were any implications from doing so, since med offers only come out in January and I've done interviews/gotten invites from the 3 med unis already - should I just put USyd law first for the first round next week? Any advice would be appreciated!

I believe UAC has changed so that if you have lower prefs that are offered in an earlier round to your higher prefs (ie Law in Dec vs Med in Jan), you can leave in order you prefer and UAC will ignore higher prefs not participating in that round and offer you lower pref if you are eligible. Therefore, you don’t need to do anything and will still get Law in Dec if you’re eligible, even with Med higher.
Previously this wasn’t the case and you’d have to rearrange your preferences, then switch them back when UAC re-opened. You can still do this if you don’t want to risk the above being untrue.

Hi could someone please help me, I'm a little confused on how to order my preferences. Initially I only expected a WSU and JMP interview as I am a first year uni student + my atar was no where near high enough for UNSW. My preferences were therefore, WSU, JMP and then UNSW. I did not get a WSU interview (low VR, my ucat was 3070) , only a JMP and definitely did NOT expect a UNSW interview. However, somehow, today I was sent an email saying I do have an interview for UNSW and they accidentally sent me a rejection yesterday. (I genuinely don't know how my atar was around 95, gpa 6.5, ucat 3070). I still don't quite believe it, but being from sydney I would obviously rather be in Sydney than outside, so should I change my preferences to UNSW first and then JMP even though I feel a lot more confident with the JMP interview and my chances of getting in due to my low atar etc?

I have a 98.55 ATAR (no GPA, no EAS, gap year student) and I have had interviews at JMP, WSU, and UNSW on Monday. Going into UNSW, I'm aware that my ATAR is very likely to let me down and I'll most likely miss out on a UNSW Kensington offer. For this reason, I just wanted to confirm that it would be best for me to gamble and place WSU as my top preference and then if I'm lucky enough to get a WSU offer, try again for UNSW kensington in the following round? If there's something I'm missing please let me know!

I got a 99.05 and I'm not too sure if that would cut it for universities such as Curtin or Uni of Western Australia. So far I have only gotten WSU.
On the "Med schools Selection Criteria Y12s & Non-standards" page (the one with the nice big table) it says that unis like Curtin need 95+ atar.
My UCAT was 2970, 92nd percentile (was 10 points off UQ and Newcastle...). Im hoping that I can get a UQ 2nd round offer - if it exists, that is.
Also, another question which isn't Med related. the B Arts/B Laws combined degree at USyd has a cutoff of 99.5, but had the lowest selection rank last year was 99.05 - exactly the same as my ATAR. While I do have EAS (which doesnt apply to USyd), I dont have E12. You guys reckon I have a chance on the Dec 23rd offer round?

If you prefer UNSW over JMP despite having to spend another year then pref it first. Worst comes to worse is that you don't get it, and then it defaults to your next option which would be JMP/WSU. The order of preferencing has no bearing on your offer outcome. It just means that you won't receive offers from lower prefs if you get a higher pref.

I've noticed people are receiving USYD offers which they are accepting but are then waiting for UNSW/WSU offers.
I am very confused as to how the UAC preference orders work to make this happen - could someone please explain?

The rules UAC now uses are : (1) you get one offer per round (which is the highest pref amongst multiple offers), (2) if a higher pref is not released in that offer round it doesn't count, (3) you can swap prefs around to get another offer in a later offer round.
So you can do as above per rule (3), or place USyd below UNSW/WSU/Newcastle throughout and still get USyd in the Dec offer round per rule (2).
As a 99.75 ATAR rural, where my preferences are 1st (UQ unbonded), 2nd (Griffith Gold Coast), 3rd (Griffith Nathan), 4th (USC), 5th(UQ bonded) the whole reason UQ bonded is below all my Griffiths is because its bonded. Do you think I could potentially get Griffith bonded, because in that case I'd rather have UQ bonded over Griffith bonded. For that matter, would putting gold coast over nathan mean I could have a higher chance of getting bonded, or is my rurality and atar high enough?
You should read up on how bonded places are allocated at Griffith, they're determined not right now but in two years' time.
GPA achieved in the medical science degree. Lowest 28.5% of provisional entry students are given BMPs.
Sorry if this has been answered before, but I've just gotten a BMP offer from UNSW. Because of some family commitments, I was really hoping to stay in Sydney if possible, but I will still happily accept the offer if CSP is not possible. From what I've read so far in this forum, basically, I can only get a CSP place if someone rejects one from UNSW right?
So do I still have to keep UNSW med as my first preference on UAC?
Also, should I accept the BMP offer or will that make me no longer eligible for CSP?

Upgrades do occur at some unis, but they are rare generally speaking (especially at unis with low decline rates). You don’t need to keep UNSW at the top, and accepting the BMP won’t make you ineligible for a CSP should you be fortunate enough to nab one (don’t count on it would be my advice).

Im wonderng if UWS has multiple round offers? I did not receive the UAC round 1 offer that was released yesterday. Starting to get a bit worried... Also, not sure if my application would be different as I applied through the aboriginal pathway program. Any info about the existence or dates of next offer rounds would be greatly appreciated. The second round will be predominantly offers to interstate students (and maybe a few in-state). After that there may be third round/top up offers depending on how many decline from rounds one and two.
