Admissions Centres Questions and Discussion

So for JMP med is it supposed to say
“You will be competing with other applicants for an offer." or "Decision pending - additional selection criteria." on UAC?
I got a reply from the JMP admissions team and they just said that's normal and it will not change and you can still get an offer on Friday.

Historically, no, not really for JMP. Second round offers generally go to those who interviewed in the second round. It is rare for those who interviewed in the first round to get a second round offer wrt JMP specifically. You would be more likely to receive a top up offer (if eligible), which will be via direct phone call from JMP possibly as early as the day after the second UAC round offers are released. When UAC re-opens for changes, you will need to move JMP above CSU Dent for this to be possible.
Question: How many offer rounds does the JMP have? I have noticed some other UNIs only have 2 and I couldn't find anything regarding the number of offer rounds in the JMP website.

Assuming this year is the same, since JMP holds the interstate interview round after the January offers so they must have another lot of offers for these, usually early February.

I just noticed yesterday this year UAC will have an offer round on 8th Jan, 21st Jan, 4th Feb. The 4th Feb is typically for interstate med, I don't know what the 21st Jan (previous years didn't have) will be for since it's so close to interstate interviews the results won't be ready.

hey, on my UAC for UoN it says "Decision Pending - Additional Selection Criteria." as oppose to the rest of my preferences which say "You will be competing with other applicants for an offer" have i done something wrong or is this normal? thanks

Hey guys, is there a list by any chance of non-SA/NT (so interstate) schools who received UES bonuses by SATAC in the past? I'm just curious as apparently some students get a blanket bonus if they are from a certain school and was wondering if my school would qualify. Also, does SATAC show our selection rank eventually or not? Thanks!

SATAC doesn't have a list of non-SA/NT schools but it is confirmed interstate schools do get the UES if they are under the "disadvantaged" index set by SATAC. Sherlock called SATAC and got confirmed his NSW school qualified.

I believe a major factor is the ISCEA value. If you go on myschool and your schools ISCEA is less than 1000 its a pretty good chance you will get UES

Yup the website said "Interstate schools qualify for equity adjustments using a subset of these criteria" so they've made it explict now

Ok I'll have a look into that! Is the bonus "scalling" depending on the level of disadvantage or is a blanket, fixed value bonus? I saw this on the website "These applicants receive 5 adjustment points in the calculation of their university aggregate" so all of them get 5 ATAR or is it up to 5 ATAR?

Not 5 ATAR but 5 aggregate. Convert your ATAR to a SACE aggregate, add 5, then convert it back to an ATAR.

Hi guys, SATAC have updated the status of my application for flinders and Adelaide from "Eligible for Consideration" to blank. Anyone else in the same boat?

Yep! Same thing happened to me. I think it's because SATAC are starting to process offers - if you look into the 'Offer Status' tab it says SATAC are currently processing offers and that most services (such as changing preferences) are locked until the major offer round starts and could explain why the statuses are blank. All statuses also went blank in the few days leading up to getting end of year results as well. So hopefully it's not something to worry about!

Hey guys!
Does anyone know if SATAC updates this info and tells you what you're year 12 rank is (after adjustments) here? Like did people in the past ever see anything written in that column or is it always empty? It's just I would like to know if my rank is adjusted to 99.95 for flinders or not...

When I contacted both Adelaide and Flinders on results day they said the selection rank will not be visible on SATAC because they are quota programs, but they did tell me my adjusted selection rank when I contacted them.

Is it true a lot more people are considering taking a drop year this year than previous years to re-sit the UCAT? Does this mean the cut-offs next year could be higher? Is it also true that the average UCAT scores were higher this year than the previous years?

This was the second year of UCAT. Yes, the averages were higher. I doubt we have any accurate data on planned deferrals and whether they exceed previous years.

My QTAC preferences, for UQ Med and bonded both do not say "closed" anymore. Has something happened or is there anything I should know of/be worried about?

UAC applications are opening today. Does anybody know when the applications for other states' admission centres open. And what is the final date by which we have to apply. Is it 30th September for all states?

With things like this, its best for you to look at each TAC dates for yourself rather than getting this sort of info from someone else. Mainly because the deadline is such a important thing and can potentially effect you not receiving an offer for med/dent simply because you forgot to apply by the deadline. You will be able to sleep better at night if you do just look it up yourself ;) Reason I say this is because in the past, people have accidentally given false information, which has caused someone else to 'forget' to apply by the deadline. So please simply just look up VTAC/QTAC etc. deadlines and it'll give you a table of dates that are important.
