Admissions Centres Questions and Discussion

Is anyone able to point me into the right direction to find out when most universities release their final offers? I've checked the TAC's but they are all rather vague and all say 'most' offers will be made by date ____. Anyone from any of the states able to comment on when their respective med universities release offers to local/interstate applicants?

My best guess for first round Med:
- SATAC 20 Dec (Adelaide only, not Flinders)
- TISC 23 Dec (also possible for QTAC but unlikely since JCU has not completed all interviews by then)
- UAC 10 Jan
- VTAC & QTAC 15 Jan

Interstate offer rounds are 5ish Feb for schools holding a separate interview round for interstate. Adelaide can possibly make top-up offers in one of SATAC Jan rounds, or progressively.

Do you know when Utas releases local and interstate offers this year? I understand it has changed from last year(I vaguely remember seeing this on the forum somewhere)

For QTAC, is it possible that med offers would be made by Griffith/USC as well as UQ in the 23 dec round, while JCU may wait for a later round?

It's possible but unlikely since it seems QTAC doesn't want to be messed about with prefs between these two rounds. Say someone puts UQ>GU>JCU>USC in that order and qualifies for USC, should QTAC offer them USC in Dec then possibly JCU as well in Jan?

Or someone gets UQ/GU in Dec then swaps prefs around to get JCU in Jan as well?

QTAC have never done medicine or dentistry offers prior to the January offer round. I don’t see how it would be any different this year (plus, IB student results need to be included which don’t come out in time for December).

Hello guys!
I really hope I posted this thread in the correct place. If not, I'm sorry.

I was wondering how to apply for universities interstate? Like, my first preference is Monash for Medicine and I know I apply through VTAC but I also want to apply for interstate universities like UNSW and University of Adelaide.

Each state has something similar to VTAC (QLD: QTAC, NSW: UAC, SA: SATAC, WA and NT: TISC, Tasmania you apply directly to the university). So you go on their websites and sign up for an account by providing your details and then preference as you can for VTAC (note that some might have you do a direct applications as well as preference them, namely the NSW unis). Are you planning to apply next year or this year? Because if this year, you might be too late for some of them.

Oops, sorry.
I meant I am a Year 11 student this year so I'll be completing my university preferences next year 2020.

Thank you for your help!
:)

I have a question, for my second UAC preference, my rank has been met but my first preference the offers are only released in the January rounds. How to I accept my second preference for the Dec rounds? Do I leave all my preferences as they are and wait till 23 Dec 2019 to accept my 2nd preference offer? Would appreciate anyone's comments on how they did this way back when. :)

The TACs are not all the same. Generally after getting an offer you will see either in the offer email or in your UAC application three options Accept, Decline or Request to defer. Click on one it'll take you through the next steps.

After doing that you can leave the prefs the same or change them, before Jan 5th to be ready for the Jan 10th offer round.

Is the course code for Griffiths Medical Science 228272?

Or have I put in the wrong preference?

This is for QTAC
That’s the code for Nathan. There’s a separate code for Gold Coast and another one for Sunshine Coast. Each are separate QTAC preferences.

Hi, I was wondering if I should put down UNSW or JMP as my first preference. This question isn't about which university is better, rather about how the offer rounds work. I know that UNSW has 2 offer rounds whereas JMP only has 1.
In the best case scenario where I get into both unis, if I put UNSW as my 1st preference I won't get an offer to JMP.
My question is, if I put down JMP as my first preference and receive an offer on the 10th of Jan, would I get an offer from UNSW on the 23rd of Jan? Or are the second round of offers for UNSW only for overseas/interstate applicants?
Would really appreciate a reply ASAP as changing of preferences close tonight! Thank you!

If you prefer to have an offer from UNSW; put that first because if you miss out on that you will get a JMP, while if you put JMP first and you prefer UNSW there is a chance you get both but then you will only get JMP because of the preferences. There will always be top up offers and whatnot so I assume that although most will be made on 10th of jan some will still be made on the 23rd. So either way there is no guarentee that you will be able to get both offers but if you get one in the first round the switch them around for the next round you will either get a 23rd jan offer int he case of UNSW or a Top up from JMP. But don't go in aiming to get two offers; go in with the aim to decide which one you would prefer then put them in that order for the 10th of jan.

Haha you are incorrect on so many fronts. First, both Unsw & JMP will have 2 offer rounds since they both hold a separate interview round for interstate applicants. Second, they won't make any offers on Jan 23rd since they are still interviewing interstates then. Their "second round" of offers will be on Feb 6th, mostly for interstates but may include a few back offers to locals (those that just missed out in January).

You can play the pref swapping game to hopefully receive the other offer in Feb. But I don't know how the schools will react to this. If you qualify for both they *may* give you a Feb offer. Otoh they could say we wanted to offer you in Jan but you got a higher pref then, so stuff you we like to give the Feb offer to another student who hasn't got any.

Hahaha dont know how I managed to be so misinformed! Applying for medicine can be infinitely confusing... Thanks so much for your reply!

Actually, I was looking at these two links and now I'm even more confused! For UNSW they say they have offers out on 23 Jan, and for JMP, theres no talk about second offers? I'll definitely take up your advice on not swapping preferences though. Thanks!

Okay I stand corrected on that. Previous years interstate offers have all come out early Feb. Looks like this year Unsw speeds up, interviews them on 17th then makes offers on 23rd Jan.

JMP is interviewing them 20th-21st Jan though, I'm not sure if they will manage in time to release on 23rd. Maybe JMP will do on Feb 6th instead.

What I wrote about pref swapping remains though. I don't know how kindly they will take to you less wanting their offer on Jan 10th but then jumping back in to take a spot from the pool intended for interstates.
