I just saw the CHEM 110 Test 2 marks, seems the average is pretty low with 56/100 and a UQ of 69/100 zzz Lack of time to complete spec question properly screwed me over hard - good thing i left it until last or else i woulda stopped on q3 :/

"If you've done NMR spectroscopy for god-knows-how-long I have, you dream of spectra." - Dr Copp

Hmm I just saw them aswel..they'll probably put down the letter grades to match that. What would upper quartile be? A-?

69 would be a B, assuming the current A+ threshold of 85 remains intact. I doubt they'd put down the letter grades since 85 is fairly low for an A+ compared to other papers...

CHEM is currently not looking too bad though, it's 107 that worries me lol muscles topic seems a bit intimidating O_O

I am waiting for the POPHLTH 111 test 2 marks to boost my morale for now ^^ finals finals finals finals finals finals

OMG yes I had a flick through the muscle section for 107 and it does look quite intense! Yeah spectroscopy screwed me over as well, I think quite a few people lost marks in the spectroscopy section because time was so damn tight during the test.

I've only been trying to sell MSO to people for the last like 4 years sheesh. It's still quiet though hmmm

Average was 78% this time around as opposed to 70% for the first test. I got two wrong so I'm reasonably happy about that. Just need to survive the final exam now!

Good work peoples! Just putting it out there, I found the exam MCQs pretty hard (mainly cos I hadn't done much study for them) but the written questions were pretty easy

POPHLTH 111 lookin' good. 2nd A+ chyeah ^_^

wish my other papers were like this <_<

I didnt do as well as the above :(
Infact I've done the calculations and even if I score a hundred percent in finals, I'm still not going to get an A+
A is looking within reach though :S

hey peoplez,
i know no one can actually answer this but im just looking for some insight or opinions..

if person x has a gpa of 9 and person y has a gpa of 8, how much better does person y have to do in umat and interview (short of getting a 10/10) to displace person x?

is it even possible?
though the uni states a 60:15:25 ratio of gpa:umat:interview, i have heard from several that the interview only displaces the few that are 'psychos' and most of the weighting sits on gpa.

any thoughts?

Yeah I heard that too. Which sucks, because in all honestly, im probably gonna get 8.25 or something. 8.5 if Im super lucky in the exams. Neither of which are good enough really. How hard is it to get A+ in the poplhtlth and chem exams btw?

The uni displaces those that get a 2/10 interview score, and automatically accepts those with a 10/10 interview score. Anywhere in-between that and you're ranked using the 60:15:25 ratio. Yes that is possible and has been done. If we knew how the uni actually used umat scores in their calculations, then you could work out the answer to your question. As they don't you can only guess. Sure most of the weighting sits on gpa at 60%, but most people that get an interview are really only separated by a maximum of 1.5 GPA points, whereas umat and interview scores are likely to have a larger range than that...regardless this is only guesswork.

As to how hard it is to get A+'s...that really depends on the person...only you know how much work you're gona have to put in to get them!

Just do your 'best' so that you have no regrets later - sounds pretty cliche but I honestly think most people don't act upon it;
Easier said than done i guess, the biomed people on my floor at my hall that I know of seem like they've given up already despite strong initial confidence about giving their best for med :/

And this might sound weird but I find Mozart's sonata in D major (for 2 pianos) quite good to listen to when my brain ties itself into a few knots regarding the pressure surrounding finals, core gpa, etc

Classical baroque era music is nothing short of amazing, but then again, I might be able to appreciate this kind of music a little more than most since I spent half my life playing instruments O_o

i apologise if i have digressed a bit
