hey I have a question to peers. Can we actually be tested on stuff that was not covered in the lectures at all. Like there were about 1 or 2 sentences max about one of the short answer questions that was worth 10 bloody marks. in the lecture notes. I don't think the lecturer has gone into that depth of answering in his lectures. Pretty much the entire muscle section was based on these 2 sentences in a page.

I never even seen that stuff in the lecture guide or lecture slides...?
i just know the 2 neurotransmitters
and remembered Bundle of His from high school...

that muscle guy gave the hardest MCQ questions as well, all of them having "none others correct". but at least we learned that stuff... those 10 marks were just bloody stupid

Goodluck for chem everyone! Im still recovering from 107 hahahaha oh well. Fingers crossed our script writers are kind =)

so.. how did we find the exam. I personally thought it was pretty straight forward, except the spectroscopy shit. I got the structure in final minutes. crazy stuff.

Well done! I never managed to get it...struggled through the drug and the kinetics stuff...started off well but seemed to get worse!

hey guys I need some help. You know the phylogenetic trees on past year exam papers (101), where can I find information regarding these. Like exactly at what node bipedalism take place and so on. Its driving me mad, I have looked through the slides and notes couldn't find anything? any help would be great. :)

Q 1-5 i'm like heck yea, i'm gonna own this paper
6-10 i got pretty crushed mainly in spectroscopy and the reaction mechanism involving urea

i thought that paper was harder than any past ones..

Have you checked the discussion pages on cecil? People usually go through past exam questions there :)

ahh the one place I forget to look. thanks for that.

Last year 2 trolls started a thread on an 'assignment' for 107, and all the replies were basically people freeking out since the 'deadline' was the next day. They ended up getting a warning

I wish the 107 exam was as easy as that 101 exam. It was pretty much a ditto of last year. Where do we get our results, as usual on CECIL or somewhere else? When should we expect chem, since its usually the first to come out.

Results are published on nDeva. You will not see your mark for your final examination - just your final grade (i.e A+, B- etc)

CECIL results for final examinations are not visible to students.

Results are due with the Examinations Office (who process all final results) on the 8th of July, and all results should be available to students by the following Monday (12th July).

You may be lucky and get some results earlier - but no guarantee.

Results become 'official' on the 20th of July. Up till then any result can be changed without notification to the student.

Oh and before you ask - no you will not see your final examination mark. This is because some courses at the University need some form of moderation to maintain academic integrity. Sometimes a mark of 84.2% is worth a A+, sometimes an A. It varies from year to year.

Yes you can request a copy of your script back, but markers only put marks on them not comments.

Yes you can request a recount of your final grade. This is a RECOUNT (i.e. check all the marks given and ensure they all add up to what was written on the front of the script) .

You cannot have a script remarked at the University of Auckland.

Hey you guys, do you know what physics160 is like? I mean is it kinda similar to year thirteen physics? Man this is bad lol...

Its just mechanics, thermodynamics, electricity and waves/optics with a bit of medical physics thrown in. It's the paper that was most poorly performed in, but if you did well in high school physics it should be fine

In the past years, we were allowed two A4 cheat sheets. You are able to write anything on them.

Practice your handwriting so you can write in tiny, tiny letters, and you will utterly ace this exam.

Oh wow cheat sheets? That's awesome, thanks you guys:lol: it kinda makes me feel a bit better.

Um, ok this is gonna sound stupid(I kinda don't get GPAs), but if someone get's A+ in 2 core courses, and B+ and B- in the other two, will that person still have a chance at med?

I mean they always go on about having at least a B+ average(actual should be around the A- range I know) but having one B- won't ruin our chances at med will it?

Yes I am stressing over my exams because chem went rather bad (yy) and now I really have to consider other career pathways which is really really painful .

I thought I said a while back that the minimum GPA for interviews last year was 7.5? That's BEYOND an A- and is halfway territory between an A and A-. Hypothetically A+ A+ B+ B- would give a GPA of 7 which is an A- but as to whether or not that gives you an interview is a different story

I'm not aware that you need a minimum of B+ in each course. But my advice to you is, if you are struggling to get a B+ in the first year papers, you will struggle tremendously in MBCHB 2 if you get in. It's a huge step up. Just ask some of the current year 2 students

So what if I've never done physics before? Is prior knowledge vital for physics 160 or just helpful?

Prior knowledge is very helpful. They do have tutorial classes for those who haven't done physics before though, so you can sign up for those.

Otherwise, get friends to help you with things. The textbook is helpful if only for the questions.
