Bond Bond Medicine: General Discussion

Do you guys think there are less applicants this year since there seems to be a bit of a dip off in the gpa and atar for psychometric testing?
im not surprised, looking at the price calculation above, thats an insane amount of money to shell out
also am i the only one that found the psychometric test like whack as heck, like some of the questions on the ei were like ??? lmao what do u want

Hold onto your horses' guys! I know they called candidates for interviews while they were being conducted. Not all accept the interview offers (like me), so they call as many as possible to get the mix they want from the pool of interview offers...seems they have a reserve list. The late offers are usually for the local candidates as they can get to Bond in a short notice. Interstate and Internationals will usually get longer notice period.

And, although they say timing is "not considered" at all...I am sure it will be when more people make the cutoff for interview offers. Not sure if they consider the total time or the Emotional part only. I was told that the responses will be matched with a psychologist's response at Revilian for the interview offers and the list is sent to Bond. They cull out that list then to call for the interviews. I wondered how one person's view (even if it is a top class, Nobel level psychologist) can be set as a standard against 500 taking this test as there are no right/wrong answers. It adds to the insane nature of this test which is 0% objective. And, what it costs :
  • Program fees 2019: $27,960 per semester, over 14 semesters
  • Program fees 2020: $28,940 per semester, over 14 semesters
There is an increase of $1000 every year, extrapolating the above it yields a total tuition outlay of $421,200. For those staying away from home, add another $18K to $20K per year for sustenance and miscellaneous Incidentals. So, on the higher side add another $90K. Bond 007 costs $511,200 in TOTAL. You may say, we get FEE_HELP for some part, but it is still a loan that needs to be repaid...so the total out of pocket does not change. :(

what?? Just one psychologist? How does that make sense to them?!

I honestly don't believe that they would say it's untimed then secretly account for time as part of their calculation even though the t and c's had no mention of this and mentioned clearly that it would be untimed...

I don't know how they came up with the recommended time to do each test anyway. If you were to do the EQ test in 40 mins, you'd probably wouldn't be reading the entire question and considering all the options, without rushing. So, basically, a 40 minute job will yield a poor representation of one's EQ. It would be quite unfair to scrutinise the time taken to do the test given the explicit statements made about the tests themselves. Transparency aside, if you use my reasoning the one who got the same EQ score as another will most likely not share the same personality traits. I'm sure Bond don't want 120 of the same sort of person.

100% agree with you.

No Sweat...Finish the degree in 4 y 8 m and start repaying the debt of $0.5m in 10 to 15 years time. Soon after your children may follow the same path (hopefully not) to add more fuel to the fire.

As much as it irks me to say this, it really feels a lot like the 'luck of the draw'. We have no idea what they want or how they assess us for it. Based on the questions on the EQ test, especially about faces and images, it really could go one way or the other - and may not truly be representative of anyone's ability to be an excellent doctor.

But the good news is that for those of us who have done the test - it is now only a matter of waiting, so let's just try to be positive and filled with ~anticipation~ aka a mix of expectation, excitement and anxiety (or whatever the right answer was lolol) ;)

I thought you guys would have already calculated it...now is the time to think as you might get an offer for the interview! "One Psychologist" assessment...great eh! He must be insanely genius.

hey does anyone know approximately how many students apply for bond med every year? Is there any specific number for last year and this year ?

Okay I called bonds and they said interview invites will be sent out next week starting on Monday. They said interstate applicants will be a priority, and also said not to panic if you don't get one on Monday. They said if you haven't received an email by the end of next week call qtac to ask about your application status

I was wondering when they say "priority" does it mean that they have higher chance of getting into the course or just been notified first compare to local students?

Gave QTAC a ring, the person on the other end told me to expect interview invitations to begin being sent out either this Friday or Monday and will roll on till the start of the interviews.
