Bond Bond Medicine: General Discussion

Nope, doesn't mean that at all. Just means that I've added that piece of information to the data collection template so we can see if there is a pattern.
Someone conducted a poll this year and found a pattern that everyone with a satisfied status on QTAC received an offer and everyone with a pending status on QTAC did not receive an offer

hi, calling on those who have gone through the non-standard entry at Bond or those who know how the 50/50 ATAR and GPA assessment criteria. I scored an ATAR of 92 and I'm currently enrolled in the biomedicine program at bond. I was wondering what GPA score should i aim for, to boost my ATAR? also how does the assessment work (like does 92 ATAR and a 4 GPA translate to a 96 ATAR)?

also I'm confused about the GPA scale in Bond, I've read that it is out of 7 and some other people have said 4. if you are doing it for one year is that calculated as a 4 point GPA scale?

thanks

There's a lot of misconceptions to clear up here. I'm not a Bond student so someone else can probably comment further but I'm going off of this post:
Still yet to get further confirmations but some useful info for non-standards:
- 6 GPA to meet threshold but it is competitive
- 1 year full time of tertiary study: 50/50 Atar/GPA or 50/50 GPA( first degree)/GPA (second degree)
- 1.5 years full time GPA will over-ride the 50/50 considerations and rule out considerations on previous tertiary GPA or Atar scores

hope this is useful, if anyone has info to add please do!

If you plan on applying to Bond after 1 year of uni, they'll take 50/50 ATAR and GPA but it's not as easy as adding them together. They first convert your GPA to an equivalent ATAR, then average the two. Unfortunately it means that you cannot exceed 96 average as you'd have to get a GPA equivalent to 100 which isn't possible.

If you do 1.5 years of uni though, Bond forgets about your ATAR entirely and only looks at your GPA. What that means is you should keep up a high GPA which you can use to apply for medicine after that period.

GPAs out of 4 or 7 are easily convertible interchangeable, I believe Bond uses a 7 point scale (?) but it doesn't really matter.

4=7
3=6
2=5
1=4

If you study for one year you still get a GPA out of 7 like everyone else, it's just that I guess Bond doesn't take it as seriously as it's just one year and they wanna see if you can keep it up.

okay that makes sense. thank you! ik that you aren't a bond student, just to confirm does 3 semesters of a degree at Bond equate to 1.5 years? if so can i apply as an undergraduate with my GPA?

I think Bond use trimesters rather than semesters (though I’m not 100% sure if this is for all degrees - it is the case for Med itself).

Hi @everyone I’m Saleem and received a 2022 September intake offer. Due to personal circumstances, starting in May would work really well for me. Please dm me or message me here, if you would like to swap intakes with myself and we can get it processed. I spoke with Bond and they said we can switch even after we have finalised accepting offers which is today if needed due to my personal circumstances. Please let me know thanks. also if you know anyone looking to switch pls let them know my fb, discord dm and email which is [email protected] is always open. thanks guys!!

yeah Bond is trisemeter for Biomed, i'm just wondering is 3 semesters at Bond equivalent to 1.5 years at other uni's.
might be wrong so please someone correct me if that is the case, but usually FTE is determined by the UoC that is completed. So if in the three trimesters you completed 48 UoC (which is pretty standard for full time students) then that should equate to 1 year universally for all unis. The trimester system just allows you to have flexibility as you are able to spread your units across these teaching periods as required.

Nope, this is my understanding too.

Although we say trimester Bond calls them semester and fits three into a year, so yes a 3-semester Bond year = 1.5 years at other unis.

Bachelor of Biomedical Science : Bachelor Biomed 6 semesters 2 years
Bachelor of Laws : Bachelor Law 8 semesters 2 years 8 months (4 years other unis).

It's the same for Bond Med, Bond says its 14 semesters is equivalent to 7 years elsewhere.
