Bond Bond Medicine: General Discussion

Hey everyone,

I was applying to bond universities undergraduate medicine program as a domestic student who recently completed my VCE from Victoria. I wanted to ask about the fees. I understand it’s around 32k for 14 semesters and the maximum fee-help loan I can get is 182k. I wanted to ask first of all does the fee-help pay 32k per semester or does it pay the 182k straight out altogether from the first semester.

Also I wanted to confirm after I have used the 182 k from the fee-help loan do I need to pay the rest upfront lump sum or is it a per semester payment for the remainder. If anyone can please provide this information it would be greatly appreciated.

I am asking this as i am so confused, will i be paying 400k+ as a whole or as a semester payment and is the fee-help a semester payment as i will need a year to acquire the rest of the money i am paying apart from the fee-help.

You incur a semester's fee into your FEE-HELP loan gradually until the loan reaches its limit. Then you pay it yourself per semester.

Also do you know if getting an internship would be an issue and then getting a job back in Melbourne after my internship and what not if I graduate from bond.

Getting an internship won’t be an issue. Getting a job back in Melbourne also won’t be an issue generally speaking but it’s good to be open minded about the need to go rural or be flexible in the terms you want because obviously the highly sought after locations and rotations are competitive, but that’s the case for everyone.

Hey guys,

Does anybody know if people have actually received psychometric testing invites w a 96 atar on the dot, or low 96s? Is there any hope for someone w a low 96 atar 😔 I also heard that they're apparently prioritising QLD applicants this year...???

Hello, yes that's right. The uni's aim is to have 40% of the interviews allocated to QLD and Tweed students as mentioned on the website in the FAQs. But I guess don't stress about it too much, just do the best you can on the psychometric test coz that's all you can do. You can't change what rules/objectives Bond uni desire, but you can change how you prepare for the test and the effort you put in. Hopefully at the end of the day it'll be fine. Hi all.
I have received my ATAR not too long ago as a high school student in New Zealand and am exploring the option of Bond University through the undergraduate Doctor of Medicine program.
Firstly, both my parents and myself have heard that Bond University doesn’t have the best reputation in terms of producing doctors that easily get internships. Can anyone please help me check the validity of this claim and further, what to tell my parents to perhaps convince them that Bond University truly is the best option for me.

Additionally, I am a student from New Zealand, meaning that the University of Auckland is also an option for me.
The University of Auckland begins semester 1 on the 3rd of March 2025 and is HIGHLY competitive in year 1.
On the other hand, bond university starts sending out their offers from 24 March 2025, meaning that if I were to sufficiently get past the stages of the psychometric test AND the panel interviews, I would receive the offer, 3 WEEKS into my study at the University of Auckland which I simply don’t trust.
What really do you guys think is the best option here?

There have been no reported incidents of Bond graduates not obtaining internships. Australia routinely doesn’t graduate enough domestic students to fill all internship positions (international student graduates fill those gaps in significant numbers every year). This is unlikely to change drastically in the next five years. Most states use a ballot system for allocating internship locations. The university you went to is not relevant. Maybe Crow can weigh in on the state of internship numbers in Qld currently?

Bond is an AMC accredited medical school that produces graduates to, at a minimum, the same standard as every other medical school in the country.

Once you’ve graduated no one cares (or even asks) what university you went to here in Aus, it’s not really a thing.

Thank you so much and sorry, I just have one more quick question:

To apply for Bond University’s ‘Bachelor of Medical Science, Doctor of Medicine’, I just need to add the course as my top priority course/school in QTAC, is that right? (so I would not be applying directly through the school).
 
Yeah, all Bond graduates have been getting internships, and they’re placed as priority 1 as local graduates. There are still lots of international graduates also getting internships, albeit mostly in “less desirable” locations - Rockhampton, Mackay, Toowoomba, Bundaberg as the main ones. International graduates would need to be losing out on places before Bond graduates lose theirs.
