Hey everyone, I'm doing a Graduate Diploma in Psychology (Advanced) and currently sitting on a 6.5 GPA. Would that be close enough for a interview?

There is a psychometric test first before interview offers. But yes, a 6.5 GPA on the scale that Bond uses would very likely give you a psychometric test invite.

Hey! Are you applying as a non-standard (not school leaver but not finished with your degree) or a post graduate (completed degree)? That would change the answer. For post-grad, you just make the cut-off at 6.5 (that's the minimum GPA) however I couldn't guarantee whether you would get a psychometric invite or not (tho it is possible). If you are non-standard, then unfortunately not as they would take the average of the 2 to give you a new atar and that would not make the 96 minimum required.

I'm currently starting my application for the 2025 semester and am stuck!

Since Bond has its application/ intake so late, I don't know what to do about the other schools. I want to apply to James Cook University as well, but I can't try both since if I get in for JCU, I would need to say yes or no before I know if I got a spot in the test for Bond. i wish I could know my chances before saying no to one or not even applying. (I have a UAC rank of 99.5 for reference)

I'm just wondering if anyone has also been in this situation, and, if so, what they did.

Afaik this has not been a problem in previous years.

Bond applications open from 9-Jan to 23-Jan 2025. JCU offers are usually released 10ish January.
What you do is wait until you know the JCU result. If you get a place offer I presume you wouldn't need to go for Bond. If you miss out JCU then submit Bond application through your QTAC account before 23-Jan.

also, if i'm a non-standard but haven't completed 1 year of uni yet, will they take the average of my atar and gpa or just my atar? and what chances do i have of getting in?
for reference, my atar is 99.05 and my gpa is 5 (i think, if i've done it correctly) -- but i've only completed one trimester of uni.

Hi Everyone, I am interested in applying to Bond for 2025 entry. My predicted ATAR is above a 99. My UCAT won’t qualify me for other unis. Can someone direct me to offers forum for bond med 2024 entry? I can’t seem to find it. I am trying to decide what I am going to do.

This is the general forum for bond medicine. I couldn't see any submission of bond medicine submissions in the collated data of Bond 2024 admissions; however, there were three submissions from 2023. If you look through the 2023 and 2024 collated data thread you should be able to find a gist of the kind of results you need for each uni.

I think Bond take your ATAR into account in your situation and your ATAR is unlikely to be enough unfortunately. Your best bet is the unis that will only use your GPA. JMP and JPM.

JCU is also an option, yep.

Hey everyone, considering how the UCAT percentiles have shot up this year (Top 10% is now 3060+) and the number of test takers has also increased, do you reckon that more people will be looking to apply to Bond now and hence the ATAR/GPA requirement to get a Psychometric test will also increase? I've heard that the threshold was 96.75 in previous years but what do you think it would be now? For reference I got 98.30 with 3070 UCAT so I've disregarded any hope for Medicine in 2025 except for Bond uni.

It's really hard to say. Many people take a look at the price and decide that it's not worthwhile or that it is unrealistic for them at that given time point. Psychometric interviews are relative to the results of other students e.g. I was offered a chance to sit the psychometric test in 2016 with a GPA of 5.75 which is well below the required GPA today, but with today's inflation, it's hard to say how many people feel that the school is a realistic option even if they are given an offer. It is likely to go up, but no one will know for sure by how much until results are out.

I feel like a cuckoo repeating the same thing all over MSO, try for both JCU and Bond, both look at considerations outside of ATAR. You have a reasonably high UCAT in the 90%, so potentially look at med schools that place heavier emphasis on UCAT than atar. You're going to have left over preferences anyway, so apply for unbonded and bonded (if you're comfortable with that) in all states that you're applying. Leave the last 2 preferences in your preferred state as realistic choices.

If you're rural, take a look into UWA, CQU, UNSW Wagga, the JMP they seem to place heavy preference for rurality.

Lastly, I would suggest doing more research into the requirements of each individual school before giving up. This is for the University of Adelaide.

I don't know the numbers themselves, only the ratios.

Before Bond employed the psychometric they invited interviewees twice the number of places i.e. post-interview the top half got place offers.

With the psychometric Bond said they would invite half the number of applicants to this test, from which they select to interview twice the number of places like before.

Hi A1, thanks for the info - current Bond med student here. I just wanted to clarify for anyone who may stumble across this thread. As it stands, the majority (but not all) of health services that provide internship positions in QLD state that term 2/mid year commencement 'are considered on a case-by-case basis'. Source: careers.health.qld.gov.au/medical-careers/medical-internships/contact ----> Click on the PDF for each health service and scroll down to 'TERM 2/MID YEAR COMMENCEMENT'.

With that being said, an email from one of the assistant professors of clinical training at Bond was sent to all med students earlier this year and it directly reads:

"Dear students,
The Medical Program would like to update students on the intern campaign which, this year, included the first September cohort who will graduate next year (April 2025).
Every applicant who applied in group A for a mid-year intern start in 2025 received an offer of an intern place through the Queensland Health intern recruitment campaign. A small number were balloted as part of the ballot process. In addition, there were a small number of applicants for this pathway from other Queensland medical programs."

This flexibility for mid-year internship commencements currently applies only to Queensland health services and specifically addresses the needs of Bond’s unique academic schedule. Other states have not announced similar accommodations, so it's unlikely they will implement mid-year starts at this time. Going back to what A1 was saying, taking a 9+ month holiday after med school and applying for the conventional January intern intake is also an option. Hope this clears some things up for anyone!

I have a question about Bond University- do you get much of a choice about whether you are starting in May or September? I presume both may be popular for different reasons? Any insight would be great!!

When you apply for Bond on QTAC, you apply separately for May and September intake. So there would be 2 course preferences for you to apply. And if you end up being eligible for both, you would get the starting month in which you put as higher preference.

One last question, earlier in the Bond University discussion from a few years ago , there was mention of not having a guaranteed intern position- has that changed? Are all medical students at Bond in the same category for Intern Placements in Queensland as other medical schools? Thanks again!
