CSU CSU Dentistry: Q&A and General Discussion

Hi everyone, for those who may not have gotten a CSU dent offer, please have hope that you may still be eligible in future rounds. Last year, I was able to get a top up offer in mid-late February (which I declined since I already had an Adelaide offer at the time) so CSU may still be offering spots all the way till early march

Hey thanks for this info. Great help honestly. Just wondering did you initially get the email from UAC saying that you were not successful in Round 1 (January)?

I am just not sure, if I should be hopeful anymore since I got an email from UAC saying I am not successful in this offer round.

Please help!

Thanks again

The letter is referring to this offer round. It is not a blanket email that covers all rounds as UAC couldn't possibly know yet what you will be eligible for next round. Declines need to come in and preferences for subsequent rounds need to be taken into consideration.

Are you saying you didn't get any email from the UAC?
I got email too around 6 AM saying I didn't get any offer this round, so does this mean I am unsuccessful already?
The email also mentioned that if there are more vacancies the offers will be made in later rounds.

When I go and check my application status it is still saying competing for an offer. Does everyone else have the same status?
Nah we still have a chance if people decline their offers (although not a great chance), I too have the competing for offers msg on UAC, at least what that means is we all satisfied the academic criteria and stuffed up the interview so come Feb round 2 and if we still don't get an offer that is something to work on to improve for the future.

Also are any of you guys rural/regional applicants? from my understanding there is roughly 1000 applicants, from that there are about 100-150 selected for an interview and from the interviews 40-50 places offered with at least 25% (10-12) places reserved for students who have a significant rural background or who are Indigenous applicants. I applied through this pathway so I am keen to know if anyone has accepted their CSU dent offer through the rural/indigenous pathway and intends to keep it so I have a better understanding of my potential chance of snagging one of those places in the next few offer rounds. If they are all taken at least I can have some peace of mind instead of thinking what if until fkn March lol.

I'm a rural applicant who has declined my offer. :)

Isn't the quota 50%? - "Each year at least 50% of places will be set aside for applicants who have a significant rural background or who are Indigenous applicants." (Bachelor of Dental Science)

Also yeah they have 45 places total (7 international, 17 graduate, 21 school leaver)

where did you get that second bit of info from? Can find the 50% rural information just not anything about the 45 and how they’re split.
Cheers

Look at the URL - my link says handbook20 and yours is handbook18 so I guess they have increased the quota from 2018 to 2020? Also, your page says UMAT - further proof it is outdated now I believe
Oh awesome that's a bit more promising granted regional applicants give up their spots, otherwise I may be "forced" to call my homeboy Senator Palpatine to execute order 66 on the remaining applicants 😂

Any topup offers for anyone in this round?
Nope, but this time I didn't even get an email or any form notification saying I was unsuccessful in this offer round. Even on UAC it only says I was unsuccessful for Jan 8th offer round and nothing for this round, is that the same for everyone else?

I think this^ indicates the schools on your pref list are not participating in this UAC offer round. Wait for the early February round, hopefully.

(Btw this 20ish Jan offer round didn't exist in previous years, must be for some "insignificant" schools) :D

Yes, same for me. No acknowledgments either.

Between has anyone tried asking CSU if the course has any vacancy left? Can we actually do that?
