CSU CSU Dentistry: Q&A and General Discussion

So I managed to an admissions team leader yesterday that specifically looked at the admission offers for dental sciences, after insisting on having my enquiry escalated, I was able to confirm through the admissions team managerwhim she consulted with to confirm what she could actually disclose to me- that Thursday 13th Jan was the main/ first offer round for all students both standard and non- standard and that 26th and subsequent rounds will be top up offers only, they released approximately 25 offers on thursday which is the pretty much the domestic quota for the admissions they have this year 2022 with a 7 day lapse, the admission team leader said that based on last year when they gave top up offers till the last round in February right up until the course start date they will probably do the same this year, but obviously it will depend on how many applicants decline or defer offers. I know this may be bittersweet and disheartening to hear, but I know for me atleast having accurate and reliable information provided me some comfort albeit with some disappointment aswell. I really wish and hope that we all get offers in the subsequent offers x
Oh no 😭 thank you for enquiring though!!!

Just wondering if anyone received an offer and has declined it or is planning to decline?

Also is it 25 including rural applicants or 25 non rural?

Also just wondering who you called to speak to the admissions team leader for dent? Did you call through the normal admissions phone number and then ask to speak to someone in that area or was it just by chance that they were from the dental science team?

Went through the normal admissions phone line option on the switchboard, and I was unsatisfied with the lack of clarity of some of thr answers they gave, so I insisted on speaking to someone higher up who would be able to more clearly answer my queries about the dental sciences admissions, and they escalated my enquiry and I was able to get a call back from an admission team leader, who specifically looked at the admission process for the dental sciences to answer my queries
I don't believe they have admission team members assigned to each course/faculty, but those specifically in the admission department have access to more specific information regarding process for each course etc. Or atleast that's my understanding of it

Did anyone else receive a rejection letter from UAC this morning just saying unsuccessful for this offer round?
Yeah I did! I think we should all still be eligible for the next offer round though on the 3rd of feb

Does anyone know if there are still spots in the course?

Did you talk to CSU? I also want to know CSU will release offers🤔
Yeah they said the next offer round is the 3rd of feb but they’ll continue to send out offers till the spots are filled/till the course start date

I’m not sure how many spots are left though :/ They also said they are reviewing their quotas at the moment

Just to provide some clarity to the situation with CSU for this year.

Let's assume the yearly intake is 46 students. My source tells me that there are normally 10 Internationals (Canadians) each year. The 10 chosen for 2021 were not able to come to Australia and start the course so they are starting this year. CSU need the money from the Internationals so have also offered places to another 10 Canadians making the total count 20 starting in 2022. This leaves 26 place for locals.
Of the 46 places 50% must be rural, that is 23. So 23 rural + 20 Canadians = 43 places. This leaves 3 places for non-rural and non-canadians (normally there would be 13).

This may not be completely accurate but may partly explain the perplexing scenario this year

Actually CSU closed admissions to Canadians for the 2022 intake and interestingly for 2023 atm (to make room for the delayed internationals from the previous year as you mentioned). Although I do know of one international student that was accepted this year but they had already completed a different degree at CSU.

Got a call from admissions yesterday and an email from the Uni with an offer of admission!! 😊still feels a bit unreal with it being such a late offer and orientation on thursday, and the last date for me to decline is march 1 so hopefully there may still be something left to reoffer for those who may still decline till then for everyone 🤞🤞
