not sure if this is the right place to ask, but do youse reckon that a normal mac webcam is fine for quality?
also - thoughts on wearing earphones to hear interviewer better

The portal will be open as soon as I start my HSC exam gahh how quickly will slots fill out? This is probably a unnecessary worry but watch me stress about it since I have a few things going on late Nov

Does anyone know if JMP are keeping the selection process the same this year? As in 90th percentile and up, everything weighted the same with the exception of SJ?

flex on the interviewer with airpods ;) a normal mac webcam should be fine, good lighting and clarity of voice are more important. if you're wearing wired, perhaps run the cord down your shirt - gaming headsets i would think not

many people would face the same scenario - slots do fill quick, but the best approach is to run to the school lib after and book, which is what my friends and I did last year

I am happy for you to create/organise a public group (to meet via Discord or any other platform) for people to join through the forum. It just can't be an "official MSO" group as we wouldn't be able to moderate it.

I'd love to join if you set one up!

Can anyone see a reason as to why all but two of the interview invites for JPM(/WSU) reported have special circumstances. I could understand if only the special considerations offers were released and the general entry later, but how come at least two standard applicants have theirs, when there should be many more??

mod note: offers edited to interview invites

wait i actually might wear airpods 😳 buT i tested audio input from airpods and its trash .. so if anyone else gona flex their airpods i would actually recommend switching input source to a different one (macbook microphone seems much better for me, but defs check for your own environment and what the mic you use can pick up on, e.g. don't want a super loud clock tick ... unless u do 🤔)

aye v nice tip with the lighting, time to invest in a beast lighting setup .. aka strategically placed phone flashlight (i shall test various angles, altho i hypothesise having the light shine slightly down on you would look better)

it's strange bc airpods are supposed to have the best mic quality - but whatever works :) in general apple wired/wireless earphones have good mic quality

on a technical note with lighting a phone flashlight might give a contrasty one dimensional look that isn't too good, the best option is probably to find some sort of natural lighting near a window - or use a flashlight and lamp in combination, i wouldn't worry too much though

if you're really hell bent on getting the #influencer setup, get one of those ring lights or go youtuber mode with the studio lights (i'm obviously joking, don't waste your money)

The obvious benefit of booking later in the cycle is that you have more time to prepare for the interview. Other than that, there shouldn't be any advantages to booking earlier or later.

You could say something to the effect of "If I book earlier, I might have more of a chance of making a good impression as not as many candidates have interviewed yet". I'd counter that with the argument of that regardless of when you interview, you should be focusing on performing well without having to rely on any gimmicks around timing.
You're more likely to get parole if your case is first thing in the morning or first after the judge has had a meal: Hungry judges dispense rough justice : Nature News.

Maybe the same is true of MMI's. Probably not, but bring a plate of sandwiches to hand out, just to be sure. :)

(and more seriously, no it won't matter what time of day you interview. What matters is that your answers are interesting, well organised and stand you out from the crowd).

Hello,
Can anyone confirm if the Adelaide Portal is open? I tried logging in and it says it is still close despite it being 9am ACDT already.
Thanks

Hi there, I'm new to this so hopefully I'm posting in the right place! (apologies if not haha)

I'm having some trouble with the last part of booking my Adelaide MBBS interview... where it says 'please enter your SATAC ID', but I can't seem to type anything in? If anyone could help me troubleshoot this, that would be great, thanks!

Hey! I'm experiencing that problem too ...

did you get any chance to change password after login the booking system?
same problem, can't enter SATAC ID and nothing to select...

I'm just wondering if anyone has any advice on working out when to put their interviews? Like they're all in a similar time frame so how are you guys ordering when you put each one in?
