Griffith Griffith Dentistry: Admissions General Discussion

For cells and tissues 1014MSC literally every lab is full. Do i just have to check everyday and hope it opens? Because theres 3 days until i need to enroll and I can't seem to do so for this paper because of this one lab. When I check what to do for full classes, it directs me to a page with steps to email the "relevant person", yet the email reference they give well, doesn't exist. Im sure i'm not screwed and can't do anything about it, but I don't seem to understand the steps that need to be taken. Help would be much appreciated! Other unis all use automatic timetable generators this is the most tedious way of enrolling I've experienced.

Note: no labs are free, nor are any tuts

Email Fiona Baird [email protected] and she will sort it out for you :) - Fiona is the convenor for CTR.

thanks! its the weekend and its due in a few days so hopefully she checks her email in time and gets it sorted for me otherwise RIP

She’s usually really good with quick replies, but understandably she’s probably inundated with emails at this time of year. What I’d suggest to you is to enrol without selecting CTR as one of your classes at all (so this way your QTAC offer can’t be redacted) and then keep trying (as well as emailing Fiona of course).

Not enrolling at all? I don't quite get what you mean haha sorry. Because I have enrolled in the other 3 and that one just says planned with a yellow tick right now.

If you can click on “enrolled timetable” and you see those three courses with your timetabled classes, then you’re all good - there’s no urgency for CTR to get sorted as you’re considered officially enrolled and QTAC can’t redact your offer. So don’t worry about there being a 3 day time limit on getting it sorted - unless there’s another reason you’re saying you need to enrol in 3 days?

Oh i see! nah im enrolled into the other 3 now so it should be okay, thanks! On a side note, I also applied for credit transfer for every paper besides the dental one. Would this affect anything besides unenrolling me afterwards because I've done equivalent papers?

No, shouldn’t affect anything :) In fact, they should automatically retract your enrolment for any units you’re approved for, if the process hasn’t changed in recent times.

Hey sorry to interrupt. Does anyone know if it is true that Griffith Dent will now be taking into consideration ucat and interview as well as gpa from 2021 intake ?

Until it gets put onto the official Griffith website, then no it isn't officially true. So wait until then. We have no insight into the ongoings of medical and dental schools, sorry!

Where did you here this? Griffith isn’t listed as a university on the UCAT ANZ site, not that this means much, but it hasn’t been made “official” by then or Griffith on their websites.

Hi, so I’m commencing in the Bachelor of Dental Health Science at Griffith this February, and I was wondering that in order to keep my provisional spot in the Master of Dentistry program, does my GPA need to stay above a certain threshold? I know for medical science at Griffith, you need a certain GPA and to pass this class to get into the Med program, but is that the same for dentistry? According to the website it seems like I just have to complete the Bachelor of Dental Health science, and so long as I complete it I’m in the Master of Dentistry program???

Yep the website is correct, you just need to pass everything in the bdhs to get to the MDent so there is no Gpa hurdle.

Friends saw it somewhere I believe. I will be calling them on Monday to ask anyway.
