Griffith Griffith Dentistry: Admissions General Discussion

Hi Guys, I've recently graduated with a 6.4 GPA. 98.8 is converted as ATAR score. Do you think I can get a chance to get in..??
I'm not sure which university I can apply for with 98.8 ATAR score.
I received an offer for Griffith Dent this year with a IB 41.75/97.70 ATAR and not great UCAT (3050, 89th %tile) so you definitely have a chance, I think the interview is the most important thing to be honest. Are you applying for 2026 intake?

Yes I'm trying. Do you think the interview is more important than others?

Hi, congrats on making it in this year! Just wondering, did you have any dental experience?

Not sure what you mean by dental experience. But it is good to have some dental shadowing experience because it gives you something to talk about if you do end up getting an interview. It also gives you more insights into the profession so that you can make a more informed decision. So sending cold emails to local dental clinics or your dentists about whether you could shadow them would be a good place to start!

Hi, I didn't have any dental experience but I was involved in volunteering/ leadership opportunities throughout high school - I don't think it's necessary to have dental experience, just have some teamwork/ leadership/ volunteering experiences you can talk about in the interview.

Adding on: applicable to all dental schools.
It's nice to have dental experience in the form of shadowing, assisting, degree in dental hygiene, therapy or oral health, but at the end of the day, the interviews aren't to assess how much you know about dentistry. That's what dental school is for, but it would help you with better expressing why you want to be in the profession. It also kind of proves you're invested too in a weird way.

U can also shadow/assist in different types of facilities such as general dental clinic, specialists clinics, dental labs, come to the open day at the local dental school (such as when they open the simulation clinic for the public's viewing whilst some students work in there) and whatever else is out there so u can get a more holistic understanding of how the industry works. Good luck.

Hot Take: but I didn’t do any shadowing for my medical school interviews, however I did do some volunteering in a semi medical but not really related area. I would say making ‘a story’ out of your life experiences contributes more positively in an interview l. For example, as a child I received the services from the charity I volunteered at later and I talked about that. I think you want to show long term commitment rather than short term. But if shadowing inspires you to go out and do something, that’s worth talking about IMO.

I agree 100%. U do want to show long term commitment. If I was the applicant, I would say doing both can’t do no harm 🙂

I'm thinking of doing Griffith dent, what ATAR + UCAT should I aim for?

Also, how come on the website it says, "ATAR/rank does not apply"?

Would 99.25 atar and a 95% ucat be competitive? (95% is what I'm averaging right now, obviously it could be higher or lower). Cheers.

Im asking the same question about atar/ucat, my impression is that it is not very competitive due to the higher cost of the non-csp part. You must attain an atar/rank of at least 90 to apply for this course. idk what atar/rank does not apply means.

Last yr ucat cut off is 91%, interview is more important than atar, there’s ppl with 92 atar got an offer.
With ur score you are guaranteed to get an offer from uq dent, better than Griffith

yeah i cant apply there because only griffith and wsu will reject my bad gpa from another degree

What do you think the actual offer rate is for the interviews, because i think most people reject griffith for uq or another school due to it's cost
