Griffith Griffith Dentistry: Admissions General Discussion

Just a thought, but the inflation might be because of more gap years/non standards applying for med? They are unable to put ISQ/UQ/CQU as options because they don’t take gap years so hence they all applied for Griffith dent?
Noting the rural cutoff 2500 42%ile, did Griffith Dent have a rural stream last year? Lowest rural posted on MSO was 78%ile.

This year they may be allocating more places to rural resulting in smaller non-rural pool and the big inflation?

Cut off for rural last yr was 2400

Hi guys, just wanted to ask, historically or rather, more recently, what has a minimum competitive ATAR/GPA been for Griffith dentistry been? Is there a hurdle or is it not hugely important? Worried as I may potentially drop from 6.75 GPA to 6.5 or lower after semester 2 of my 1st year uni degree. My ATAR is 99.2.

I have a UCAT of 3230 this year if that helps.

ur gpa is competitive for griffith dent, aiming for 6.5 gpa, with ur ucat, you should be able to get an offer from uq dent.

Thank you! What do you think would be sort of the gpa cutoff for griffith dent?
There's no clear gpa cut-off for Griffith dent since it's 20% UCAT, 40% GPA, and 40% interview. If you did well in Ucat and interview, you probably don't need a high GPA, as long as you are above 90 atar or equivalent.

Does Griffith Dent differentiate between intrastate and interstate applicants?
I don't think so, but they do differentiate between rural and non-rural applicants.

Do you know if they use your ATAR directly or convert the ATAR to a ranking?

does that mean that those who did not receive the rejection email passed the interview offer and will receive an offer for Griffith dentistry?

No offers have yet been made to any applicants in the Bachelor of Dental Health Science. Having satisfied the entry requirements means that you can be considered for an offer in this program when offers are released on 16 January 2025.

Does anyone know if Griffith’s Bachelor of Dental Hygiene is a good degree to take if you want to pathway into their Bachelor of Dental Health Science? Or is taking the typical Bachelor of Science recommended?

The uni doesn’t recommend using Dental hygiene as a pathway because it’s a difficult course and may be difficult to get the high GPA required to apply for the dental science degree.
That being said, many of the courses in that degree overlap with the ones in dental science degree and you would be able to gain credit from those courses.
However, you can still get credit for some first and second year courses even if you do a bachelor of science (e.g biology, chemistry and anatomy courses).

Thank you for your advice! Luckily I received an offer for the Bachelor of Dental Health Science course this morning so I won’t have to pathway into it after all :)

Hey guys, how likely is it to get a griffith dent offer for second round offers next week if it is your first preference? also, has anyone in the past year received a second rounds offer into dent like last year or something??

Hi Guys, I've recently graduated with a 6.4 GPA. 98.8 is converted as ATAR score. Do you think I can get a chance to get in..??
I'm not sure which university I can apply for with 98.8 ATAR score.
