I got an email notification from somebody who posted on here which is now removed for some reason? Said they emailed the department and this is the response that they received, no wonder nobody has posted saying they haven't met threshold. If this is true med entry is straight up just gonna be the top X amount of grade averages in the cohort, will this lead to an increase in percentage required?
Can confirm: just got the same response

Then who would want to be a dentist? 5 years degree vs 3 years degree, plus the astronomical cost of dental school. That'd be quite unfair wouldn't it?
The problem with this though is that dentists have spent 5 years instead of 3 years studying and are often better equipped with skills that oral therapists do not have since dentists had extra time studying. It's like comparing nurses and doctors. Nurses are amazing and can do a lot of the work that doctors can. You're pretty much saying that doctors should cut their pay the same as nurses and "everything would be fine" right?

Likewise entry into nursing or oral health is not as competitive as med or dent etc.
It is unfair, but you cant except someone who just graduated dent school and receive a high 5/low 6 figure salary without any experience.
Yes 5 years of dent school is alot of work, and very costly compared to a three year degree but just because of extra time spent studying doesnt mean you should be getting paid higher.

I am not saying, dentists should be paid the same as oral therapist, but at least graduates with less than 3 year experience should be paid the same/or slightly higher than experienced oral therapists.

Although Dentists are able to perform much more procedures and study longer than oral therapists that shouldn't be the sole reason dictating their pay. Experience should be an integral part in determining a dentists pay. And that could be a possible explanation in why private clinics are opting to hire more oral therapists compared to dentists.

Oh yeah if you mentioned experience then ofc. Dentists only start treating patients from 3rd year up to 5th year where the final year is pretty much like what a dentist would do (although they do start getting trained to do procedures that oral therapists are not taught). However, this does not compare to an oral therapist with like a decades worth of experience.

Yikes guess I'm below the threshold for SJT then even though my VR was 670 😢. Oh well atleast I'll get to enjoy my genetics degree until postgrad rolls around.

I still have a tick on eVision though. I'm going to bite the bullet and email about it, I'll let you guys know what they say.

It might be because you're applying through a sub-category? (Heres to hoping 🤞)

Are you sure your SJ is not between 530-688? If you have the green tick I assume it is.

Hello
Does anyone have an idea or heard of the cut-off for med for international students?
I heard that some people got into med with A- average last year but I'm not sure if that's the case for every other years.

Last semester HUBS came out last and we did it first so don't know if the release correlates at all to when we sat the exam
