Hi,

Can you be more specific about what "treat" means? Also, they can treat adult already.

I would not pay too much credit to Critics, anyhow.

I went to a dent talk about 2 months ago and yes it's true, oral hygienist can now treat patients over the age of 18 (which wasn't the case like 3 months ago, they could strictly only treat those ages 18 and below). Not everyone is happy about this because it means people can see an oral hygienist instead and get treated for cheaper, but I definitely think it's a step in the right direction with dentists charging so much (in saying that of course obviously oral hygienist cant do everything a dentist can!)

I think it will slightly reduce the disparities with dental care.

Would the UCAT threshold be lower for the subcategories e.g. rural, Maori, etc?

Hi there,

I think the most likely thing is that the threshold is the same for call sub-categories (and both HSFY and graduate category as well).

I got an email notification from somebody who posted on here which is now removed for some reason? Said they emailed the department and this is the response that they received, no wonder nobody has posted saying they haven't met threshold. If this is true med entry is straight up just gonna be the top X amount of grade averages in the cohort, will this lead to an increase in percentage required?

Correct me if I'm wrong but does this mean they haven't used all 5 sections like they said they would?

Hi there,

I think the two plausible scenario here is that the admissions office decided (somewhat recently) the they will just use the two or the email correspondence is not quite true (for whatever reason). They do change rules from time to time and not update us in time.

I am confused aswell. On the website it says they will use all 5 sections, I sent a email earlier in the year and they told me that all 5 sections will be used for the threshold.

Hi,

I think it's just that it hasn't been updated.

If I recall correctly, back in the day UMAT wasn't applied to Maori, or pacific sub category.

Hi Bootleg,

No, I don't believe so either, but I am not too sure what else the admissions office have changed for this year with UCAT being introduced. I guess it's safe to assume that part hasn't changed.

You would think they would update the website as quickly as they can, but they actually don't. Sometimes they seem to prematurely update it and essentially give us false information.
