JCU JCU Dentistry: Non-Standard Entry

research and hospital volunteering is generally medical related, shadowing specific to dental.
Your shadowing experience will definitely help your application, but JCU dent is the least predictable one out of all dental schools. It would be safer if you also apply for other dental schools. Are you going to do the UCAT this year?

Does anyone know how much NZD it costs to do Dentistry in an Australian university that doesn't require UCAT for entrance (e.g. JCU or Bond University)???

Bond don’t offer Dentistry at all. Have you looked at the JCU website. Fees are usually pretty clearly detailed.

ETA: definitely check the website yourself. It’s there in AUD so you can run the figure through a conversion calculator to get the NZD amount.

Yeah as LMG mentioned its given on the JCU website 9.6K AUD for domestic & 67K AUD for international students.

Hey, so I'm applying to JCU for 2022 non-standard non-rural entry and I started my first year of uni this year. Since the application date closes at 31st of August, will only my first semester of uni GPA be used? I got 6.75 GPA but i have yet to finish semester 2

Place offers are only made early January, by then both semesters' results will be available & considered.

(That's for JCU Dent, for Med 1st-year students are usually delayed to the 2nd interview round to include their semester2 results).

If your application for JCU med is considered competitive i.e. you get an interview, can you give a fair assumption that it would be for JCU dent as well? (i know its two different courses but still?)
No, definitely not. JCU Med interview many x the number of people who go on to get a medicine offer. You could be ‘ranked’ 400th on the basis of written application. That would get you an interview for Med, but you wouldn’t necessarily be close to an offer for Dent (assuming a majority of applicants apply to both and you have skewed your written responses to Med).

If you’ve skewed your application towards Dent and you get a Med interview, then that’s probably a more positive sign.

I'm just interested in how JCU dent ranks the written applications? To put both med and dent in the same application form is tricky. If you talk about more on med aspect, potentially may compromise your dent application, vice versa. Any comments on this issue?

Hi guys and girls,
I was just wondering when the JCU dentistry interview offers come out. The med one should have come out today but I only went for dent and I am just curious if I just didn’t make the cut or they just haven’t been sent out yet.

Thanks 😊

Have you done much research about this course or the application and entry process? If not, I suggest you start there ;)

Hi! There aren’t any interviews for JCU dentistry - the offers come out on January 13th.

Hey! Can anyone let me know what their’s says next to the ‘entry requirements’ for the application section on their Qtac application form for JCU?

On mine it just says pending. But I am enrolled in the JCU’s preparatory math unit.
Has anyone previously completed this unit and know the contact hours for the workshops.
