JCU JCU Medicine: General Entry Discussion

I’m a third year student who is still awaiting 2nd trimester grades. Is it likely that I’d be considered more for second round offers than, or will they just use all my grades to date without considering 2nd trimester?
As a third year student, you have lots of completed units to give JCU a fair idea of your likely GPA. It would definitely been feasible for you to receive a first round interview if you were competitive. They wouldn’t necessarily have had to wait because there’s only so much a single semester of units can do to an overall GPA at this stage.

You’re obviously not out of the running completely, but I wouldn’t have been surprised to hear of someone with that many units completed getting a first round interview.

I was an electrical engineering student in my first year then I swapped to diagnostic radiography in my second year. Do they take into account my GPA from first year or am I a “first year” student atm.

Thanks in advance

Does anyone know the lowest ATAR that a successful domestic non-rural applicant has received? Just worried as going to find out ATAR later this week.

Does anyone know how many Interviews they offer for the 2nd round?

I have a family friend who is applying as a first year uni student with a GPA of 7 non rural from Melbourne

Do they take just the application into account for the interviews or GPA as well?

Cheers guys.

Does anyone know how many Interviews they offer for the 2nd round?
I calculate from this webpage > Volunteers for Medicine Selection Panels

JCU interviews 880 applicants over 8 days round1 + 2 days round2, so approx 700 + 180.

Do they take just the application into account for the interviews or GPA as well?
For interview selection : Rurality-adjusted ATAR/GPA + Written application
For place offer : Rurality-adjusted ATAR/GPA + Interview score.

I have done 3 years of schooling in a RA3 area
Real Atar dipped below 99 from a predicted mid 99 Qld
Perhaps this has been answered before and above😃. .. would the rural school stint make up for the sub 99 ATAR
Thanks

For just three years of rural, it's hard to say. What is more likely to counteract a sub-99 ATAR is an outstanding written application (where you also highlight your rural experiences and how they tie into your motivations) and interview where you do the same. But obviously that's a complete unknown. Good luck!
