JCU JCU Medicine: General Entry Discussion

Has anyone who is a school leaver and NOT rural received an interview invite?
It seems like rurality was pretty much a prerequisite without the written application. 99+ on JCU's predicted atar form, 1st & 2nd preference QTAC, and 3 strong letters of support with connection to rural areas & healthcare but I'm not a rural student. no interview invite and it looks like I'm not alone :/

not that i know of :( kinda sucks

Hi I was just wondering is it worth putting both cairns and townsville on preferences?
i think put it to be safe, unless you are running out of preferences

What if you don't meet the pre-requisites for JCU Dent? I didn't do chem and maths methods in yr 12. And I am applying as a non-school leaver applicant, already have a degree. Any advice? Or can you just not apply then.
i think you may have to do a bridging course, reglardless you will have to have done the study to be elligble to apply

non-rural, non-school leaver applicant here.

I spoke to QTAC to confirm my selection rank and it's 99.95 (7 GPA from my standalone Honours year). However, I didn't get an interview offer on the 10th of Nov. I applied for EAS and submitted 3 letters of support...

Do I still have a chance for the 2nd round of interview offers in Dec?

I think this is a good question, with many applicants on this thread in the same position. This is the 1st year without the written application, so it seems that perhaps JCU has changed the way they rank for 1st round of interviews with very very few non-rural applicants getting through (if any). So I'm hoping that 2nd round interviews may include non-rural applicants, but it is difficult to know. Has anyone contacted JCU directly with this type of query? I wonder how many 1st round interviews they offered, and how many 2nd round interviews there will be?

The only information I have relating to this is that the first round of interviews goes for 6 days whereas the second round is only 2 days.

Hi, I am wondering if JCU takes in students who are already studying medicine at Bond university via the general undergrad pathway; not a transfer. Thanks!

Not previously. You’d need to check with them/their website for current advice.
