You receive an email and then log into the JC portal and it is there if you have received one

Also received interview offer, surprised as I applied as non-standard (6.89 GPA) but forgot to submit my rural documentation and therefore would’ve been classified as non-rural. I did have rural schools down in my education background on my application, do they take this into account or was GPA simply high enough as a non-standard, non-rural applicant?

Your school/home addresses (in your case rural) are definitely weighed into interview selection. JCU wouldn't go on just GPA/ATAR.

While knowing the ATAR of others is interesting unfortunately it doesn’t actually tell us anything particularly useful. We’ve had people with ATAR 99.95 not receive interviews including this year, there is clearly far more to it than that.

Yes, we believe so. With heavy weighting on rural background as evidenced by 99.95 no invite.

Does anyone know how much rurality is weighted this year? I am a Biomed student at JCU, who used to live in Brisbane. I applied to medicine with a 7 GPA and did not get an interview offer for this first round of offers. Neither did any of my friends with a GPA above 6.5. However, a friend on 6.3 GPA with a rural background got an interview offer today. But at the same time, I have a friend who is on 6.8 GPA AND rural who didn't get an invite. Is there some other criteria that they consider as I literally dont know what more I could have done sitting on a 7GPA.

No, we never know. JCU are not transparent on this matter.

Firstly, your UCAT is irrelevant for JCU.
Secondly, if you’ve applied you have a chance. JCU do prefer rural applicants, but their cohort is not 100% rural. They don’t publicise exactly how they make offers though so beyond that, you’ll just have to hope for the best.

99.95ATAR definitely doesn’t guarantee you a spot, we’ve certainly seen them miss out before.

Oh Yeah, I didn't receive an Invite for Interview even though my Actual ATAR was 99.95
Most likely due to the fact that I have no connections to rural areas :/

Have just looked at QTAC and it says ‘unsatisfied’ or something similar, next to the application. Can anyone shed any more information? Is it possible to have this revoked if I add whatever paperwork is still needed, if that’s the problem?

A number of people received interview invites. Please look in the interview invite thread.

Many universities don’t send rejection notifications (for interviews or place offers). It’s just assumed.

I was asked this question in a private message today answering here as it’s more appropriate.

Do you recall from previous years who does get the later interviews?

Later interviews typically go to those who have actual academic results (as opposed to predicted ATAR or no predicted ATAR form submitted or part-year GPA) that are higher/more competitive than they were expected to be at the point first round interview invites were released.

Obviously this is still combined with however the rural ranking is determined so getting a higher result than was predicted is still no guarantee of invite.

Also wondering about the ‘not satisfied’ response from QTAC from two of the three Unis i looked at like jcu. I have no idea what didn’t ‘satisfy’ them as the other uni offered me an interview. Is it possible to have it revoked?

It could mean that your combination of academic results and rural ranking does not satisfy the criteria for interview.

The only way you’re going to know for sure is to contact QTAC on Monday.
