I just rang and they confirmed that all of the final interview offers went out at noon today. ATAR 99.90 wasn’t enough. Apparently “ a strong emphasis on rurality”. Congratulations for those who received an interview.

I got 2 emails too! I’m a non standard applicant so only applied for med via QTAC. I saw on the dent thread that they were NOT sent to everyone. Hopefully it’s what we think it is

JCU do have a habit of jumping the gun on QTAC, historically via phone call but maybe via email this year.

Only people receiving these emails that I’ve heard from were postgraduate applicants or non standard. Interesting. Are you undergrad by any chance?

I'm a non-standard applicant but have seen school-leavers saying they also received said emails.

Most likely someone just got trigger happy with a few emails that were already pre-prepared. Don't know how they could send 'welcoming' emails to people without offers? Nerve racking times till tomorrow...

I wonder what those emails meant aha! I never received one yesterday but got an offer today! Non -standard student.

They are likely released in one big lot. You will have to wait for next offer round. I will be declining my offer so there will be a spot available for whoever is next in line!

Prospective JCU student here. It was disconcerting to see the rejections of 99.95s last year, which if true suggests that JCU is a rural-only or de facto rural-only (through the referee letters) medical program, something that medical admissions faculty should really have told its metro applicants. However there's something interesting I'd like to point out.

Under the 2026 entrance undergraduate applications webpage they have added a pretty explicit section that states "Medicine applicants do not submit written statements OR letters of support at any point during the application, interview or selection process." In this case it seems that they have abandoned the reference letters from last year (albeit keeping it for dent/veterinary medicine). Presumably then, interview invites would only be made off rurality + ATAR then, which looks more promising for non-rurals. What do you guys think?

To be fair, they've never exactly hid it. The same things happens with GPA. You could get a GPA 7 and still be rejected. I think there was a nurse a few years ago with a GPA 7 and 5 years rural experience who was still rejected twice before making in on her third try. We really don't know what they're looking for, so anytime any asks the specific here, the response is usually...a drunk magician pulled the invites out of a hat.

Is it more promising? I don't know, but it means that instead of letters, they'd probably focus more on MMA rurality and filling their quotas there first before picking cream of the crop metro. There are rumous that they:
1: prefer rural queenslanders
2: Will pick applicants who are higher on the MMA scale e.g. MM5 over MM2

Yes that makes sense. This year it will probably be about filling quotas via ranking rurality, potentially state. Unless very few rurals apply I won't get my hopes up.

They didn’t use written statements or letters of support for 2025 either for Medicine

Super worrying to see all these 99.95s not getting offers Does anyone know how they pick between the 99.95s - specifically non-rural interstate applicants?

A1 replies: With 99.95 you can afford to miss JCU. Can go to USC, Griffith, UMelb Chancellor's, USyd, or Flinders with 92ish %ile UCAT.
