Through Aspire, received a conditional offer of another programme instead of dent. Does that mean I no longer have any chances for Nov/Dec rounds too as non-standard ?

The aspire conditional offers are based off what we wrote in our application, not on academic merit. The Dec rounds for normal standard entry will be based on academic merit (so meeting the atar requirement). So no, even if you didn’t get a aspire offer for dental, it wouldn’t mean that you won’t get an offer through the normal application process because they have different criteria.

I see. Thank you for your clarification.

Did anyone get a pathway offer? I got a Bachelor of Health Sciences pathway conditional offer apparently to Dent but not sure?

what does it say in the email? i got a conditional offer and it mentions pathway in the email but i don't think it means that entry into dental science is guaranteed after the course. i think it just means that it can generally be used as a pathway into dentistry. what does your email say specifically?

Your first preference was very popular and after careful consideration of every Aspire application, we'd like to make you an offer to the recommended course that pathways to your first preference degree.

Interesting how you got a biomed offer.

I only put dent as the only preference but didn't get it.
Metro, interstate, Duke of Ed.
I don't like the odds of how 1 year the cutoff was legit 93 WAM for the internal transfer tho : /

yeah im attempting the internal transfer atm doing health science so i dont think ill be doing biomed anyways. it's probably increased to higher than 93 now but you never really know until the offers are released.

a 93+ is extremely tough from what I've heard. Do you mind if I ask you what your current WAM is and the difficulty of health science? What major too haha

i won't tell you my exact wam ahaha but the course isn't TOO hard. what's hard is making sure you get almost 100% on every single assessment. i haven't chosen my major as im only doing the course for this year. once ive finished the year and gotten in to dent ill post my wam and stuff.

ah alright. Will be interesting to see!

Hi, dumb question but I was just wondering:
I might be able to barely scrap off a 99 atar, but I do live in a low SES area at NSW, will it still count as an adjustment factor if I apply via VTAC to Latrobe for dent (as an interstate student)?

La trobe University has an ATAR and SEAS adjustment calculator. If you type in your home address in the calculaltor plus ur estimated ATAR, it will tell you if your home address is classified according to la Trobe as low socioeconomic and thus what your new adjusted ATAR will be.

Thanks, and sorry two more dumb questions...
Do latrobe give lesser preference for inter-state applicants?
Do you, by any chance, know how many students are offered to study the dental course per annum?
I'm still a bit of a dummie I don't know much abt anything lol though im just curious abt these unnecessary details

it’s all good :)
i think I’ve asked la Trobe University about that and I’m pretty sure they said that they don’t differentiate between VIC and interstate students. And in 2021, there were 56 domestic places (according to la trobes studnet profile 2021) . Idk if thats changed since then.

also in NSW, they automatically tell you that you live in a low socioeconomic area and automatically gives you the adjustment points. But in VIC, you gotta manually apply for SEAS (which is the VIC’S EAS equivalent) specifically category 1 to get the adjustment points for your residential address. Otherwise, if you dont apply for SEAS despite living in a low socioeconomic area, you won’t get the adjustment points.

Thank you so much for this valuable information!!!
I just checked VTAC application fees list and it said that SEAS applications closed on October 6th :(
Is there anything I can do to help it?

no worries but I don’t know if anything can be done. Maybe it’s worth a try emailing VTAC and making a case by explaining how because you’re from NSW, you were uninformed etc etc?
