Depending on what vaccinations you’ve already had, and what vaccinations UNSW require, it’s possible (likely) you won’t be fully vaccinated before you start.

For example: the hepatitis a and b vaccine (twinrix) requires three injections over a 7 month period. One now, one in a month, one in another 6 months.

Speaking about UTAS (because that’s the info I’m most familiar with), you need to have started the process but not necessarily finished it. I’d imagine UNSW will be similar.

Speaking from experience in allied health, you’re usually allowed an ‘interim’ certification after the 2nd injection - meaning that you can still be in the hospitals

Are many are many people planning to turn down their UNSW offer in favour of another uni? I rang up and they told me how many people there are before me on the ‘waitlist’ so just wondering if I have a chance haha....

Course Type: Dent
Offer Received: Yes (12/01/2018 UAC)
University: Griffith
UMAT: No
ATAR or GPA: 7
Offer Type: CSP
Special Considerations: No
Other Information:
  • Non-standard
    • Got a 6.5 at UOQ during my first year of tertiary studies (wasn't happy with results)
    • Transferred to Griffith because I wanted a fresh start and it worked out
  • QLD student but applied through both QTAC and UAC
    • Not really sure if I "accepted" my offer because I don't remember actually pressing an accept button on the website (first time dealing with UAC here) I'm currently a Griffith student and my student homepage says I've enrolled in both my previous undergrad program and the dental program. Can someone please advice if they are familiar with the UAC process (it is the weekend and UAC is unfortunately closed for support)?
    • Intending on deleting my Griffith preference on QTAC because I have the UAC offer
    • Although I'm a QLD student, does this mean I'm an interstate applicant since I went through a TAC from another state? Will this affect anything later on in my program in any way?
Congratulations to everyone who recieved an offer!

Look you never know.... but UNSW is one of the most selective and highly sought after med school's. There would certainly be some declines, but I would guess not that many.

If you are single digits from the top of the list that sounds pretty hopeful. if you are tens then I would guess that is not so good. Bear in mind that the cohort is 189 (or thereabouts)

I'm rural so I think that cohort is like 51? The person I spoke to said I would have got a bonded offer if I had ticked that box on my application, and there's only four people above me on the list for unbounded! So frustrating!!! do you think I have a chance?

This is my first time using UAC but I've received two offers (Med at WSU and UNE) and for both the accepting/declining took place on the specific university's website, not on UAC.

Absolutely no idea. Sorry.

Have you told them/are you able to tell them that you will accept a bonded place? If not, you might like to try. ~30% of places are bonded. You have limited yourself to the remaining 70%.

Yes I did ask that - however they said there's no way to change from unbounded to bonded, it wouldn't be fair on others or something...
Regretting not doing bonded a lot right now haha

Okay thanks so much for your information LMG! I'll make sure to check with Griffith.

UMAT section scores don't really matter at this point. If a person got an interview, we know they made cut-off, and we know the cut-offs from people reporting interviews back in October. UMAT isn't used for selection beyond that point.

Anyone else got into JMP?

My application status is still "matriculation" and its been more than 6 hrs!

Is there some limit on enrolling?

As far as I'm aware you can't enrol yet? I went through all the to do lists and so on, application status is still matriculation, but you should be able to get your ID no?

I can't decide whether it's worth asking UNSW people to state which campus they were offered or not, so I'm using you as a test case! Haha! A couple of people have outright stated they got Port Mac, so I'm assuming if people haven't stated then they probably got Kensington, but you are my guinea pig! What campus did you get?

And congratulations!

Congratulations on your offer! I'm also a rural student but didn't receive an offer, just wondering what your rural rating is and how you think your interview went?

I love guinea pigs! Kensington by the way.

Thanks mate! Sorry to hear that, I'm sure second round is for you!! Umm, well my rural rating is the lowest one that UNSW uses, RRMA 3 I think.
The interview was the main component I had to destroy, I entered it feeling like I got nothing to lose hence I was confident, loud spoken, clear and witty. The questions were alright, some threw me off but other than that, the interviewees really made you feel at home!

Do you mind me asking your scores and such?

That sounds like you had a really good interview!! My UMAT was 91%, ATAR 98.50, RRMA 4. I'm pretty disappointed cause I thought my interview went okay.... oh well. Did you attend any other interviews?

It appears you can call UNSW to see where you are on their waitlist, if this is a course of action that interests you? You might be in line for a second round offer.
