Med/Dent Interview Preparation

Ah I can see that there are a few posts about interview prep courses, I was wondering if anyone could start a new thread to have some discussion about people's experiences with them? I believe as a new member I cannot make a new thread (or maybe im just silly and dont know how to oops haha)

I’m hoping to receive an interview for JMP and maybe WSU. How do you go about preparing? I’m not sure where I should start. Do these interviews tend to have more personal questions or ethical scenarios? What assumed knowledge are we expected to have regarding the Australian healthcare system and medical laws? Besides MSO, where can I find practice interview questions/scenarios that will be helpful for JMP and WSU?

Both universities have non-disclosure contracts with interviewees so unfortunately your questions can’t be answered with specifics. Have a read of what’s typically in MMIs/MSAs and then do some practising from there. If you have some friends also applying, it can be useful to get together and go through things/offer feedback, etc.

There are tonnes of interview preparation resources out there (a whole bunch more coming very soon on MSO - watch this space!). Sign up for PagingDr and look there as well - there’s a plethora available.

A side note from me for anybody preparing for MMIs - DO NOT neglect the personal, panel-style interview questions. They’re very important not only to assess your own motivations and skills/experiences relevant to medicine, but also because they will be both directly and indirectly assessed in MMI stations too. (Of course, don’t take this advice too far and neglect to prepare for ethical and scenario-based, traditional MMI stations either)

Just wondering - are such stations found in the Monash MMI specifically?
Could anyone who has sat a Monash MMI before please chime in with their experiences? Thanks! :)

All undergraduate entry universities bar UNSW and JCU have their applicants sign an NDA, meaning they can not disclose specific content from their interviews - so you won’t get an answer to this one directly.

I will simply echo my advice from above, which is not to ignore panel-style interview preparation for MMIs, regardless of which uni you are interviewing at.

I'm looking to start an interview preparation group for WSU/JMP interviews this November and December!

Ideally we can form a small group and meet up at local libraries around Sydney to brainstorm answers and mock interview each other

If anyone is interested (hoping to start sooner rather than later!) please like/reply to this message and hopefully we can get a Facebook group started.

hey guys,
does anyone have a link to this pretty extensive thread with interview preparation advice? I found it on MSO about a week ago and have unfortunately lost the link aaaahhhhh. I know it's a pretty open ended question but thought I'd give it a shot!! thankssss
