Monash Monash Medicine: General Entry Discussion

Hi. I got 3110 for UCAT and I'm predicting around 97 ATAR. What would be my chances for monash med?
About zero chance if you're non-Vic.
If Vic and you get special considerations like SEAS or Monash Guarantee 97/3110 are pretty good chances. Otherwise the 97 will make it tough for you.

I am VIC, so would require 98 or 99 for definite chance?

Majority of Monash offers to non-SEAS/MG go to 99s and a small number to 98s. Occasionally we see a 97 but possibly they had been given MG without knowing about it (some get MG just based on their home address).

3110 with 99.5+ you'd be close to definite chance for a place offer provided you don't mess up the interview. Between 98 - low 99 it depends on your interview score, can't call it definite.

Yep. Would I still get an interview with 97 or 98 cause I feel confident with interview, just breaking that 99 atar is quite difficult. Thanks

I think 98.5+/3110 should get you a Monash interview.
97 to low 98s will have to wait and see, too marginal to predict. Good luck.

Hi! I was wondering for Monash University, I have already put in my VTAC application, but where can I apply for SEAS? Also, where would I need to apply for Deans Rural List, or do I just receive an email from them?

Thanks in advance!!!!

on vtac there is a section where you can open a seas application, it should be one of the tabs at the top of the page when applying
i think monash emails applicants about the deans rural list sometime in october regarding how to apply so you'll receive an email from them

Morning! Sorry, I'm new!
If I got 3170 and am interstate and have 99.9 ATAR, still no chance for monash right (even for bonded?) Thanks to anyone too who would answer!
(Should be no chance. Just wanna get the confirmation as early as possible so I pack my bags to queensland)

99.9 / 97th is possible to get a Monash interstate invite, have to wait see since it changes from year to year.

Feeling sorry to my child who has “Clayton” as her birth place and both parents went to Monash in 90’s but classified as “interstate” just because we moved for my job and went to interstate high school.
I can’t believe 97%ile is not good enough for an interview 😫😫😢

Totally agree and feel your pain Dr Pepper.

My child has the same UCAT score 97% however unfortunately for them they were raised in Queensland due to their parents work responsibilities in Queensland Health.

Queensland is the only state in Australia of which there is no preference given to its own students. Further disadvantaged as a Gap Student they can’t apply to UQ with an improved, incredible UCAT, Griffith out unless the ATAR drops to 99.65 in 2023 which is highly unlikely, leaving JCU which receives an incredible amount of applicants due to the non UCAT requirement and absolutely no advantage for being a Queensland student.

Therefore the way I see it and correct me if I’m wrong my child has no option but to go interstate if they are lucky enough to get an offer interstate.

The admission system is completely counterproductive in providing an opportunity for Queensland raised students train as medical students locally. Of course there are the exceptions top ATAR >99.8 plus top >93/94%UCAT or Rural Queensland applicants. Again please correct me if I’m wrong what other state has such high admission requirements for locals?

The medical admissions system is well and truly due for an overhaul with more transparency and equity between all the states and territories needed.
Perhaps a national system is in order??

I feel your pain but Monash is absolutely a b**ch when it comes to discrimination. they are infamous for their discrimination to interstates, 3200 UCAT is almost minimum for interstate interviews as well as a near perfect (99.9) ATAR...

True, that is why with a 99.85 ATAR and a 97 UCAT I am applying to UQ and CQU, and I believe I got a shot at those. But I am domestic overseas, that means I am interstate everywhere. This further adds fuel on fire to my applications, and I am discriminated almost everywhere. But let's see how it goes.
Cheer up 2023hopeful
With that good UCAT and ATAR, I’m sure your child will receive a place offer 👍
Just FYI, UAdel's 300 interstate quota also means a 96th percentile UCAT is almost required for interstates to get an interview.

Yes my point exactly Queensland is the only state with no preference/advantage given to their own in regards to an obtaining an interview and or place.

If you have your ATAR already are you on a gap year? In that case UQ/CQU won’t look at you😬
Congratulations on your outstanding results.
Good luck for 2023

Thanks for the reply. I'm not a gap year. I did my education in China, having completed it this July. So I'm still a school leaver.
Imagine me as an aussie who did a-levels in england and are coming back.
Thanks for the congratulations!
Let's see how it goes.
