Monash Monash Medicine: General Entry Discussion

Pro tip: DO NOT NEGLECT SJT - I had a friend who got a 3190 but didn't get it because of a 440 SJT (He wanted to go home early)

This^ should not affect on his 3190 if SJT is supposedly tiebreak on 3140.
(Unless Monash also has a SJT hard cutoff like WSU is reputed to have).

It might have been a hard cutoff this year... i know someone else with a 3170 and 480 SJT who got an int offer.

Did anyone who had a Monash interview find out if you will get any correspondence between now and January?
They just sent an email thanking me for my participation. I haven’t received anything else, I expect the next communication from them will be the offer

UCAT 97th percentile, ATAR 99.30, SEAS approved. Local student, non rural. Interview completed in round 1. Assuming my interview went well, is my ATAR enough for an offer in Monash?

hey could someone please help me figure out my chances at Monash direct entry med this year?
Interstate applicant
UCAT: 3300 (98%ile)
ATAR: 99.50

I am not sure if I could get an interview, if anyone who has data from past years could help?

Local - Rejected by Monash with a 98.80+SEAS and 3120 (92%) UCAT. Thought I would at least get an interview.

I believe ERC is open for everyone, although the requirements are not as high as a normal CSP... usually people put CSP, ERC and BMP in that order.
so it will make it easier to get into med? does this mean putting ERC lower than CSP may lower my chances of getting into monash?

Yes it does to some extent. Not all CSP applicants apply for ERC so ERC is less competitive.

No it does not lower. You have the same chance of getting CSP regardless of ERC.
If you miss out CSP you're considered for ERC on equal basis as someone putting ERC 1st pref.

The downside of putting ERC > CSP is if you qualify for both you get ERC.

Thanks so much for clarifying this! I changed my preferences to put CSP, ERC, BMP in that order. As to my previous question, what likelihood would you place on me getting into Monash with a 2880 (~80th %ile) UCAT, 99.45 ATAR, and MM3/RA2 interstate rural? I have heard that interstate applicants are much less likely to get in so I'm a bit worried.

A1 replies: Sorry I can't help with the chances. It's difficult to guesstimate for rural due to the wide ranges of rural interviewees' ATAR/UCAT scores.

When are Monash offers released? It doesn't say anything on their website, only refers to VTAC website which shows the first january offer round as 10th Jan. But some applicants haven't completed interviews by this date, so is it the 10th?

all monash applicants get their offers in the february rounds when all interviews have concluded (last interviews on the 28th of jan) . this is why monash starts a bit later (24th feb) than most unis

Hi,

Can anyone help me, please? Does anyone know if I list my preferences as CSP, ERC, and BMP in that order, and I’m offered ERC, and if I accept it now, would I still have a chance to be offered CSP in subsequent rounds if someone withdraws from CSP? Or is that CSP spot offered to someone who has not yet been offered a spot?
