Some colleges don't hand out rejection letters due to "high number of applicants" eg. St Margs

But anyway im anxious to get in somewhere of my 3 prefs hopefully :P

Technically you won't get a rejection letter. You'll either get an offer from a College or you'll be told you're on the general waiting list. Colleges don't have their own waiting lists.

wooooooooop i got an offer to Selwyn just then hahha cant wait to meet everyone else going to selywn
lol idk why they emailed me so early though. official offers shouldve come out tomorrow...

Congrats!, was that your first preference and was it sent by the college itself?

Most colleges don't take returners (or if they do, not many). The likes of Knox, St. Margs, and Selwyn take returners, the likes of UniCol and Cumberland(?) don't.

Essentially, regardless of which colleges do and don't take returners, the vast majority of second years and above don't live in halls (unless they're working there as RA's).

Hi everyone, I'm new here. Just got an email that I've been accepted for Aquinas College. I'm looking for a healthy balance of study, fun and sports - anyone know whether Aquinas is any good in that respect? Checked out their website and it looks pretty mint but that could all be flattering advertising. Also, do you guys advise turning down Colleges and riding your luck on the waitlist to get into your main preferences?

Welcome to MSO geordie4life!

It looks like offers are out, congrats on getting picked into a College! Many actually don't at this stage.
I have had friends at Aquinas (AQ) the last few years and in my opinion it has everything you're after. They've got a great academic program (a staff member solely dedicated to helping residents with general academic support). They're probably one of the sportiest Colleges around. They've won the Colleges' Football comp 2 out of the last 3 years, plus they won the Volleyball and were second in the Basketball. They have a rivalry with Hayward where they have a massive sports day.
All my mates have had fun there, lots of events, I'd probably say it's one of the most underrated Colleges around. The only issue is the distance...but a free shuttle to the door of St Davids (where HSFY lectures are) is pretty sweet. If you're at Arana on a rainy day, you'll get drenched walking 5 min to Uni, at Aquinas you don't have to get wet at all.

In terms of declining Colleges...definitely don't decline AQ, it's a sweet place. I would be very hesitant declining any College as we don't know how large the waitlist is this year. It's a risky business. All the Colleges are solid, some just suit others more.

Hope this helps!!

Thanks stevo140. Good to know I'm in a sweet place :) And good to hear about their football team, I'm pretty keen on that too. Title #3 for AQ this year!

Hey I'm new here, but have read all 150 pages of this forum. Just got an offer from Carrington which I am super pleased about :) wondering if anyone else is going to Carrington?

Hiya everyone, new here as well! I've also just received an offer for Carrington College, super excited as it was my first choice. I'm interested to know how useful the tutorials for HSFY students are and what life at the College is like in general. If anyone here has stayed there before or is currently living there I'd love to hear from you :)
