I kept hearing how Otago's second year is ridiculously cruisy compared to second year med in other uni's, so I guess have fun this year!

edit: capital letters eh? Ok I'm gonna make up MICROSOFT and see if the hold me up for copyright lol

Lol yeah true. Acer was probably like screw ACER, they suck anyway, lets steal their name

YUSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! I can't believe it!! WOOOOHOOOO!!! Otago ftw :)

Wow such a large thread - im gonna apply to newzeland as well - such a buet country

isnt otago like a stundet town? lol (i hate who ever invented lol)

Heres a wee fact, this thread has had the most replies out of all the threads on MSO. (yy)

We had the lead before, then we lost it, and now we have it back lol. Also if you combined all the threads on HSFY into a single thread like the Auckland one, it'd be HUGE.

I'm gonna add in my two cents about everything in this forum that I have just read.

Man some of us are late sleepers........

The text books are generally useful especially the HUBS book. I'm keeping mine for my future library in my home. The useless books IMO are the physics, biochem and to a slight degree the Cels book. I think the Chem one is good for the problems it offers and the epi one is good because apparently they can test you on everything that is in it. Or at least it was in my year. As to the notes offered by other students aptitute, there is an inherent danger that you are going to be rote-learning off those and when you get something wrong its gonna be because the notes were wrong. The uni does not endorse using them as they offer all the resources you will ever need as Skyglow has said. Up to you what books you buy. I'm keen to offload some books but I dont know which ones I have left.

Which physics textbook are you referring to? The college physics one, or the one written by the university? The one written by the university is great for students who are a bit weaker in physics.

Yeah I meant Urones. That was a paperweight if I ever saw one. The new one is helpful but I think it could be better written.

thats why i said that they shud refer to lecture slides and podcasts first. aptitute just helps with note writing and it generally covers everything in depth so you dont miss anything. no way shud u rote learn from it. use it in combination with other resources. there are very few mistakes - less than "naughty naughty thibedou" as prof. reynolds would call it, probably b/c its made by a team of students not just 1 who are probably in 4th year or so. but definately read thru it b4 buying and by no means is it a must to purchase - you might just find it helpful

Also, you could look for E-books maybe.

Free E-books huh? Wish I had those for this year, considering how damn expensive the 15 second year pharmacy textbooks are..

The health sci biochem textbook is what we'll be using for biochem this year, but I didnt even buy that for health sci -_-

Honestly, that book was crap and not even helpful. :0

Yeah so lucky I didn't buy it.
