Marks are out! Just like I said, got one question partially wrong, and lost 1/3rd of a mark....

Still good I suppose! Can't wait for HUBS results now!

Hey nice man, I managed to get the 17.
Man, I got 5/6 in my chem exit test i got marked down for such a little tiny mistake annoying.
Now I think I've screwed my most recent one too, worst thing is I love chemistry but the labs are annoying me now.

ChickenPie, mind checking something for?
So we had 2 values of enthalpy of reactions;
H+ + OH- --> H2O -56 kJ mol-1 error : 6.5%
CsOH + H+ --> Cs+ + H2O -156 kJ mol-1 error : 6.5%
and they asked to calculate the enthalpy of reaction for CsOH dissolving in water. So I reversed the 1st equation and got 56 + -156, for the error's I converted them to absolutes i.e. 6.5 x 56 / 100 = A
and -156 x 6.5 = B
then for the total error I did A+B
my answer ended up being -69plusminus12 (rounded 11.1128, also -156 and -56 arent the actual values that were in the exam)

I think the HUBS results are going to be out the monday after the break.
Where are you staying ChickenPie? You dont happen to have a brother in medicine do you?

Have an awesome Easter break everyone!

I got the same answer as you but i'm not sure if i'm right?

HUBS IS OUT!

I got 24, pretty stoked with that! Really wanna know what one I got wrong though. Already spoken to two guys on my floor got 25... (darn-it!)

It came out sometime late last night, someone was running round my hall yelling it out, I fell down a flight of stairs while running to the computer room to check LOL. (I may have been drinking....)

Umm I'm at Carrington, and I don't have a brother in med sadly, that'd be helpful!

I friggin' hate chem exit tests too, each mark is worth 0.5% of your final grade :( I can't really remember the question, I did the lab last week...

Hey chickenpie nice result,
i managed to get 24 too lol
i thought i may have got that genetic day to day one wrong but now im not so sure :S

I got 24 out of 25 as well, kinda disappointed because i think i made a silly mistake, but it's certainly nothing to get depressed about!!!

Yeah the day to day genetic variation was the correct answer.

You guys should be disappointed, 24 is a poor effort. Luckily we wont have doctors like you since a score like that won't help you get in

Lol Im joking by the way, 24 is really good. HUBS results generally go down hill after each test

Hey Sasol, >_< For a second i thought you were serious. I read your blog, do you really recommend Maori paper as an optional 8th paper? I heard from some people it's not as easy as it seems.

I got 25, so I was pretty stoked :)
In case anyone's interested, I found this pretty nerdy rap on youtube. I quite enjoyed it for its nerdiness.

Well done everyone on your excellent HUBS results! Keep it up (y) I have a good feeling a lot of you will make it

SaxGuy: Check this one out...

We were shown this video in our MICR221 lecture. It's pretty good :P You won't understand all of it until you do BIOC192 =]

yeah maori is so easy, doesnt require much study at all and the essays are marked so easy

Says Mr. 99% in Maori!

I've already bought the textbook for it. I was going to do it for personal reasons anyway, regardless of easiness. Well done on the big one-zero-zero SaxGuy!

How much rubbish do we need to know on plant organelles and structures? We had two lectures earlier (CELS) and some of the material which was covered rather extensively in the lectures isn't even in the textbook, which is odd considering no additional readings were given (ie tannins, pigments, and alkaloids)....

I'm going to assume the answer is yes.

The textbook readings for CELS tend to be pretty rubbish and don't really align with the lectures. The lecture slides and what the lecturer says contain the real examinable material.

For CELS if the lecturer says it, it is examinable (though the lecture objectives form a good guide for where to focus your revision). Despite what official policy may be, I've never seen an exam question that required knowledge of the textbook readings.

Oh, and while the topic of the 8th paper is up, while I agree with SASOL that MAOR102 is a good paper if you want to easily get a good mark, I can also recommend BSNS104 (principles of economics I). It has the advantages that (due to plussage) it's essentially 100% final exam (unlike Maori where you have assignments to complete throughout the semester and don't have to work on a 20% essay while studying for terms tests in the same week), it is also an easy paper, and it has an awesome lecturer (and interesting content).

Personally I was much happier taking BSNS104 than I would have been taking MAOR102, but this is just a personal thing, and if you are genuinely interested in learning about Maori society (like ChickenPie is) then the Maori paper is the one for you.
