That comment really doesn't make any sense... if you accept that UMAT prep is a joke, then it makes no difference when compared to going into the exam unprepared, and in fact in some cases may worsen your performance.

Meh... if it makes you feel more confident going into the exam then I suppose that's something to be grateful for.

Lol, i never said i thought UMAT prep was a joke ... i just said maybe it is ..Who knows? .. i'll find out myself later this year.

It seems like people haven't been on here for a while. Hopefully that's because you're all busy studying! Anyway, just wanted to wish you guys good luck for the finals coming up. Not too long to go  but can't wait for the holidays that come right after it :-)

Looks horrible, topics that others find difficult are always great because they provide that opportunity to get ahead.

yeah that MRI portion was suprisingly hard to understand at first (especially at the lecture geez)

i cant believe HUBS final is practically 1 week away.. and we just finished the last topic ! not to mention CELS isnt even finished yet -_-

are the MCQ's in the hubs final exactly like those in terms-test difficulty wise? or do they step them up a notch? 60 MCQ's sounds crazy

Just wondering...
How extreme is the amount of people in lectures? Like, do you always get a seat, and how often are you in the same lecture hall as the lecturer?
Also, what is your preferred noted taking method? Do you take notes from the lectures. have pen and paper or laptop?
And where have you found is best to sit, a lot of people have said o me not to sit at the very front or the very back, just in the middle kind of thing.

hey...
this is going to sound wierd but i thought there was nothing to lose really...
essentially i fell sick during one of the modules of PHSI - electricity (it doesnt help that there are 16lectures in 1 week when you include the other papers i have) now im trying to catch up on lectures and i dont realistically see myself having time to write notes up for it..

does anyone mind lending me some notes for this module? id really appriciate it

Good Luck to everyone that are studying for exams. Go for gold I say. Ask plenty of questions. :D

I don't really know anyone who took notes for electricity - everyone just uses the lecture material provided.

Notes aren't very useful for PHSI in general, considering that it's a concept-driven paper. Learn those off the lecture slides and through the textbook, which I personally find more than adequate.

and LOL at OUSchweiz - don't stress about those things. You'll always get a seat, being in the same room as the lecturer isn't a big deal, I take my notes for two papers on my laptop and the other two on paper, and it doesn't bloody matter where you sit in the theater.

hey yeah, i was stressing pretty hard last night chicken pie, i realised the notes were pretty adequate from the lectures

have you done the last exit test yet.? (where you make paracetamol)
do we have to draw a reaction mechanism? or is it more theory

I just did it this week,

My one didn't have any mechanisms

I'd recommend learning the mechanism of how paracetamol is made ( which will be shown by the lab demonstrator)
Learn the functional groups of the reactants and products formed in paracetamol synthesis
Identify/ draw the structures involved in paracetamol synthesis

(Basically just know/understand Question 1 from your lab manual (Discussion) REALLY well.

Best thing to do is listen to the demonstrator REALLY well when he wraps up the lab before the exit test.

Good luck for exams! I feel so bad for you guys......ahh Im gunna be home next Saturday, sweet. Just thought I'd rub it in.

Same here. I'm here to rub it in more.

Best of luck everyone. Remember to keep calm under pressure, stress doesn't help anyone. :)

Welcome. HSFY stands for Health Sciences First Year. It's kinda like the Pre-med year for Otago.
