Hi, I was just wondering is anybody selling their textbooks? I just need the textbook for Cells 191 (Otago compiled version would be great!) and the Anatomy&Physiology one. Anybody interested in selling?? and does anybody have their lab manuals for Hubs 192, chem 191 and cells191 they would like to give away??

I loved the epi textbook. The lecturers were less than average and the textbook was way more concise and clear. I also found the HUBS one really helpful. Physics was really good since it's written by the department - but I hated physics so didn't really do much for it :S
Bioc and chem I never used. Cels I hardly used.
Depends what kind of learner you are I guess. I never pre read but just flicked through if I was struggling with something or once I'd learnt something and wanted to read it from a different perspective with a bit more detail.

If you're living at a hall, the only textbook I'd get is HEAL, and the PHSI one if physics is your weak point. All the other textbooks you won't be using that much, and there a billion copies of them floating around if you do need to have a quick look at them e.g. your hall should have some, other students on your floor should have some.

I've just received my congratulations-on-being-accepted letter in the mail today, it came with a study confirmation slip (not course confirmation, don't stress :P) that needs to be returned before the 24th; you can ring the University Information Centre instead of mailing it back though.

If you're not at a hall, you can still get the less-used ones out from the library. I really don't think its worth it to buy most of the books, unless you are happy to go through the trouble of selling them later.

You can get all the textbooks quite easily from the library... the catch is you aren't allowed to take them out of the library and can only use them for 2 hours at a time. Financially the wisest thing to do would be to just use the books in the library for the first couple of weeks, then buy the ones you find helpful and can see yourself regularly using. Having said that, it should become apparent early on that the PHSI191 textbook is a must-buy.

Hey new here, doing hsfy too. Does anyone know when course approval forms will be sent? or has anyone been sent there's already? stressing out!

I called up (to have my place confirmed) and was told late January?

So don't stress and hi :]

hi! i called up to confirm also but they just said they would send it, and i forgot to ask when.
thanks i can de-stress now lol

Haha, are you excited yet? I'm kinda still bleh-ish about the whole thing ae? Can't wait to actually get there!

P.s. nice name. Nabokov and I are homeboys.

More anxious then anything lol, its gonna be a tough year so don't know if im exited or scared oh well haha

Funny thing is i've never actually read the book lol

:O Blasphemy! You should. If anything read it for its lyrical genius. The opening line (opening few lines I should say) is one of my all time favorites. Right up there with Fahrenheit 451's; It was a pleasure to burn, and Anna Karenina... gah you've set me off :].

I'm so emotionless at the moment, but it'll hit me soon enough. I don't want to psyche myself out by thinking it'll be uber-hard though but nor do I want to be naive and act like it'll be a walk in the park. Gah, where's balance when you need it! :P

haha, Chels... I gather you're existed?

Welcome to MSO btw!

EDIT; wow you beat me to it o.0

Haha I was trying to reply to something else but it didn't work, so I had to edit it so everyone didn't think I was some crazily excited person.. ;) which was obviously a good idea!!

and thanks :)
