Maori? lol interesting. I remember in primary during prize giving having to address the school and opening in Maori..

What other papers are there to choose from? Is there a list somewhere on the otago website?

Hmmm Greek Mythology looks interesting.. I aced my CIE Classics exam so I might look into that if I'm a bit crazy and keen to do some extra work.

Cheers for the help :D

We're med noobs now Arutha X_X I don't like knowing so little practical knowledge about the course ahead ><

Are there busses or shuttles from the Dunedin airport to the university? If so, how much are the fares? I might go down early Feb to have a look around

That's one of the awesome things about Dunedin. Tons of shuttle/taxi services so getting to and from the airport isn't a pain.

At every flight arrival there are already shuttles waiting just outside the airport from various companies, which will take you anywhere in Dunedin. The company I tend to go with have a fixed cost of 25 bucks to or from the airport no matter where you go. Some companies are cheaper (lowest I've heard is 18 bucks) but I have this company's number so it's convenient. Ask the person about the price (some companies charge differently depending on how many others are going to be in the shuttle with you etc.), then hop in on a shuttle. Whoever you go with, get their number when you leave the aiport so you can book a shuttle back to the airport, and make sure you book like preferably a day or more in advanced.

If you're going down in early february, don't wait any longer to book flights because they'll be ridiculously expensive. Tons of students are flying around that time and if you don't book weeks or months in advanced then it can get far more expensive.

I'm going to be the n00biest n00b in med. We'll be left floundering like beached whales because there'll be so much self-directed learning argh.

And omg at the shooting in Auckland

Beached as bro!

That shooting was pretty crazy; took me 2.5hrs to get home from the shore cuz they closed the north western (argghh). It's the main arterial to west auckland, Auckland city is hamstrung without it!

Oh man not looking forward to self-directed learning :(

Sucks to be everyone who was heading out for a trip over the long weekend ><

I was trying to get to Whenuapai for a birthday...

Such a weird sight though...a section of motorway completely empty in broad daylight

Got more information last night about the number of people that got in from St Margaret's.

Yeah I think there's probably more seeing as St Margs + Carrington make up the bulk of the med ppl. Aquinas only had like...4 at the most I think who got into med xD

Hey I just had a quick question,
You know how we have evening lectures, I was just wondering how we get to and from our halls at night. Do most people just.. (gasp) walk? My mum is worried if it's safe to do so.. LOL! >_<"

Get a big man-friend to escort you XD

Oh **** I just saw that you're a dude. Same still applies XD.

Just stick with a big group of people who also go to your hall. Safety in a pack thing because they'll be going to and from the same place as you. Some far-away halls like Aquinas have half-hourly (is that right, skyglow?) shuttles so you can just hop on one of those. I would recommend this if you have an evening lab, which don't finish until 9pm. The latest lecture last year was in semester 1 (CELS) at 6-7pm but that is still dark, esp in winter. If you're close like at Selwyn then you don't need to worry because the hall is right next to the main lecture theatre, St David.

Lol thanks Arutha!
I think I will "join a pack of hsfy'ers" instead of "acquiring a big male escort" XD
I wasn't actually seriously worried, but you know how parents can be lol :D

Oh also, are the Castle Building Lectures nearby to St Davids?

Haha no prob, I know all too well about the stress mothers go through when their baby is leaving home.

Castle is like 200m down from St David, so only a few min walk. If you've got a day with only 2 lectures, one at 8am then the next at 9am at Castle and St David respectively, walk fast! People don't stick to their prescribed timetable because they want their day over and done with by 10 in the morning so they'll all be rushing en masse to get a seat.

I think this year Aquinas might be only providing hourly shuttles instead of half-hourly :( If you live at a far away ish hall and you have a lab that ends at 9pm, your hall probably wouldn't mind picking you up with the other 9pm people if you asked.

Discussion about pr3p courses is not allowed on this forum. Plus this isn't the right place to ask anyway, but yeah no discussion about websites like the one you're referring to.
