Fair enough about the 'exact same lecture' part, but for me it would kind of take the fun out of it, I like actually watching a live lecture occasionally... Maybe thats just me. Although it does seem a touch pointless to have the lecture pre-recorded, if the lecturer will be sitting in the room anyway? Lol.
And I definitely don't like the idea of podcast only lectures, I paid quite a lot in fees this year, I'd like to at least be allowed to sit in a lecture theatre :D

What next, podcast labs? The pre-recordings I can live with, but the podcast annoys me....

Nah, I'm sure the lecturers wouldn't mind being paid to sit there doing nothing for an hour

Yeah, a lecture is just not the same without a lecture theatre...

Imagine a study titled "Delivery of lectures via modern technology" by "Bishop, et al."... I think I need to tell my friends to be serious with the survey - there is a remote possibility we may screw future CELS students out of live lectures, or even any lectures at all...

That's interesting, they did the same thing with us last year in CELS. As far as I was aware I think most people didn't like the podcast only lecture at all!! It wasn't a very fair test though because they made the postcast only lecture about 1hour and 20minutes long! :S

Yeah, I plan on slamming the podcast in my survey, I don't want future CELS students to not end up with real lectures... Its not that I don't like the podcasts, I use them occasionally for study anyway, what I really can't stand is the part where they don't even give you the option of going to a lecture.
And its the same this year, the podcast has 'question breaks', which makes it longer than a regular lecture, and flaaaag that :D

I'm guessing we won't get our PHSI or CELS results until after the break?

I was reading through the PHSI discussion board on blackboard, ITS only just got the marks back to them, they're checking them now I believe.
As for CELS, I don't envy the markers, 2000 scripts to read? No thanks :P

Hmmm, it's only just occurred to me that I should check the discussion board, since there's bound to be people asking there... Interestingly enough CELS says "we are presently entering and compiling all of the marks" - which seems to indicate that the markers have already finished the process of marking 2000 scripts, which I find remarkable...

Yeah, I just wait for someone else to ask the question, so that I don't look like the impatient one :D
Really? Far out, that IS fast, I though it'd be around 3 weeks at least before CELS got anywhere near having the grades up... Not complaining though, I hate having to wait for marks, I'm the type who'd quite like to have my paper marked as I walk out of the exam lol.
EDIT: 'We are hoping for just after mid semester break.' Lisa Russell.

That quote refers to the whole of the marking process to me.

Well it might be just me, but I mean, compiling the marks sounds more like they've finished the respective marking (especially since the SAQs are split apart and each question is marked by its respective lecturer) and are trying to get stuff together again, although I guess I do hold the assumption that if they haven't finished marking they would just say "we're still marking it" (which would've been a perfectly reasonable thing to do, with the number of scripts that have to be marked.)
EDIT: 'We are hoping for just after mid semester break.' Lisa Russell.
Well the test did happen to be split into 4-5 parts, so that's up to 10000 things they have to sort back into 2000 again (hopefully none of the markers dropped the ball and got things into the wrong order, but you never know - Dr Stephen Bunn did manage to kill his computer with his water bottle), plus entering marks, possibly doing some statistics (maybe write an assessment report, even if not for our eyes), oh and also having an Easter break... (Yeah, all of a sudden it becomes pretty amazing how they carry out the logistics - I guess it's another reason why we have so many online tests)

The lecturers don't mark all the scripts - that's what their post-grad students are for!

Normally you'd expect everything marked in 2.5-3 weeks (it's done quick and dirty, no moderation or anything), then 1-1.5 more weeks to put everything together (e.g. typing all the marks into the computer).

PHSI results are out (I think). I'm at the sci lib and was eaves dropping on some health scis who were discussing the absurdity of their lack of study and remarkably good scores haha.

Good luck everyone

PHSI results are out (I think).
I was at PHSI lab when someone checked their phone (what a rebel) and suddenly informed us it's out, which, by the way, is the case.

Yeah, they sure are. And I think it shows just how useless NCEA is that I got NNAA in level 3 physics, and 95% in a university terms test for the same subject. Either that, or how little work I did at high school :P
How'd everyone go? I notice (with some annoyance..) that the PHSI dept. don't release the average marks etc...

Actually, on the announcement post Craig Rodger did say that "The mean for the PHSI191 MidSemester test was 13.2".

I found, with some relief, that I got 20 as I expected.

Oh right, apparently I can't read then xD
Well done Cathay :) I mis-read that thermo one about LOSING body weight, I skim-read it and did my calculations as though the guy had gained weight. Not smart lol.
Oh, and does anyone know how 13/20 compares with previous years?

For the past results...
I calculated the average over about 130 results and it came out to close to 10. 20 people got 20. There's about 1300+ PHSI (and hence hsfy) students.
(Quoted from the monster thread, post #294, this was 2009 though)
