These introduction epi lectures are getting really boring. I literally have nothing to do today.
*echoes this*. Ffs, I'm a health-sci, and I'm bored senseless. It's just not right... *shakes head*.

yerrr been quite a boring first week, will treasure it while it lasts. hubs lab was kinda dumb as heaps of stuff was new. bioc was most work for me this week, havent got the amino acids memorised yet, although the test is ages away.

HUBS lab was super pointless. I didn't know any of the stuff and determining the effect of exercise on heart rate... really? Making me do squats...really :P? But I've enjoyed HUBS lectures so far! They're pretty packed with information and I'm finding them so much more interesting that HUBS last semester. Although I really enjoyed Endocrine and Immunity last semester!

Oh and does anyone know whether we need a First Aid Certificate to apply for Dentistry? The booklet we were given seems to indicate no... right?

Thanks

Couldn't agree more. And in one lecture: ‎'As some of you may already know, the heart sits in the chest cavity'-HUBS lecturer. Really? Tell me more, Sensei.....

On a completely unrelated note,
Do you think the HUBS lecturer looks a bit like 007 from Casino Royale? =P
o.O I'm failing to see Daniel Craig in him...

HAHA well that is what I'm going to be focusing on all HUBS lecture today :P....

Did anyone go to 9am HUBS today? Did they really scan ID cards? Because I streamed jumped to 9am yesterday and they were all serious about scanning people from now on or something. I don't get it. The lecture theaters aren't even full and why didn't they do this LAST semester when it was really needed?!

GUess I shall be obediently attending my afternoon lectures today. :)

I was on my way out of BIOC to HUBS lab on Tuesday when I heard them announce that they'll be scanning... Overstayed after BIOC yesterday, nothing happened - theatre was not even full.

And today, right after BIOC finished they came in with the trolleys of GLM booklets, and started scanning ID, so I left before they got to me (I was fourth row from the front, so chances are they would have scanned me and told me to go away if I didn't leave on my own accord.)

I guess today people picked up on the fact that they didn't scan yesterday and started coming back to 9am HUBS, so they bring the scanners back out...

In a sense, it's a lot more tempting to go to 9am HUBS this semester than last, especially if you're in 8am BIOC - 5pm HUBS can drag your day from a 3pm finish (after HEAL) to a 6pm finish, but more often it drags a 1pm finish (after 12pm HEAL) to a 6pm finish, or, much worse, a potential 10am finish (after 8am BIOC and 9am HUBS on Tuesdays and Thursdays) to a 6pm finish...

EDIT: A friend just told me that HUBS was not anywhere near full this morning, so it seems like they're wasting their time and our time to enforce their moral codes...

Damn it, I slept in this morning and missed 9am HUBS (still getting used to this crazyness) - I'll just listen to the audio and go get the GLM booklet from the office in a few minutes.

Also, Rod Jackson's epi lecture was awesome, I loved it! And on Monday we get to start Module 1, finally. :D

So go to HUBS at 5pm? Or am I the only stream-jumping loser here :p

You underestimate how much people hate 5pm lectures. Especially those not streamed into it.

*shrugs* I'd rather go at 5pm than watch a podcast.
And yeah, Rod Jackson's lecture was amazing, I'm hoping 'actual' epi will be as interesting as the first week

Rod Jackson was so damn entertaining, seriously brought back life into epi, and im pretty sure that will be the most entertaining epi lecture this sem.

I remember Rod Jackson, he was probably my favourite lecturer in sem1 (UoA) - was a shame pophlth 111 went downhill straight after he left

HAHA The video they showed us at the end of Epi was AWESOME !! It's on youtube by the way!

is anyone else concerned about bioc192?

I just don't know where to start/what they want us to know other than the 20 aminos.

It seems they've bombarded us with information without explaining it.

Meh, so far BIOC just looks like rote-learning hell, so I've accepted that it's going to take a lot of work to memorise (and a little more work to understand, although so far the concepts aren't impossibly difficult).
