Yeah, stupid postman/woman stuffed it into my letterbox and bent it too  LOL.

Hmmm I suspect we'll be told all this during the information dump that is Oweek :O

i read arutha you were in Smarg's last year. which floor were you in?
and who of the hsfy '09 going to smarg's (st margaret's)?

I'm driving down tomorrow morning and still haven't got my course approval form. Do you think I'll be able to get another one from Otago? Are they personalised or just a generic form?
Extracted from https://www.otago.ac.nz/tools/faqs/enrolment_faqs.html :
"I haven't received my Form for Course Approval. What should I do?
Telephone 0800 80 80 98, or complete an email enquiry form below, and we will send you another form. Alternatively, you can collect another form from the Castle Lecture Theatre Complex during the main Course Approval period."

Hope that helps. You get your very own personalised form. And so do I. I feel special ^_^.

im also in smargs :D gosh i had to rush my first fee instalment at the begining of this week 0_o thankfully it arrived just on time

Excuse the personal question that will follow.
Did anyone at Uni -you, or anyone around you- ever compete in the freshman 15? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freshman_fifteen It may sound like a race, but it is far from it. Did you avoid it, and how?

I would assume that everyone would pack on the obligatory 6.8kg/15lbs considering the reputation Uni food has. So everyone would look in proportion to all of the other people at the Hall, so theoretically people will have the same "visual" mass at the beginning of the year than at the end, just as if a camera was on everyone all the time to add 15lbs. Get what I'm saying? Mayber not, but when people go home they will look larger to their parents and friends compared to what they did at the beginning of the year. Now I'm lost:huh:

Lol in my experience, nearly everyone at my hall disliked the food provided by the Hall so tended to eat in moderation. On the other hand I absolutely loved the food cause I never got to eat that sort of stuff at home and I guess I have lower standards than most, so I ended up eating ALOT and gaining 9kg over the year lol. My face was visibly fatter by the end of the year  It will depend alot on how you find the food offered at your hall, whether you hate it or love it or just find it meh.

Ahhh the fresher 5 :D. I think I did.
And agreed with skyglow that I never eat that sort of food at home, so it was a novelty (at first, anyway)! Especially dessert, I loved it.

We made it a sort of ritual to go to the New World at the bottom of the hill after every test to go buy a couple blocks of chocolate and a couple bags of chips as stress relief haha. I also ended up eating a ridiculous number of instant noodles which wouldn't have helped. I just get so hungry while studying at night lol T_T It was how I knew I was studying effectively actually..cause I'd feel insanely hungry after doing some hard and productive work

Edit: Omg we made it into MSO's top 5 hottest threads woooooooooooo!

Yeah, I know, studying hard makes you so hungry :O. I just cannot study when I'm hungry. As soon as I'm feeling the first pang of hunger my mind can think of nothing else and I've just got to have some food.

Also, I'm going to warn you young ones that you will probably catch something called the "fresher flu" within 1-2weeks of staying at your hall.

Yeaaaahh we're amazing at spamming this thread woo!:D

hey has anyone got their LEA letter from studylink? on PIMS it says the student loan has been finalised
I got the same thing on PIMS as well. I called the Uni and they said the loan wouldn't be processed until Course Approval has been completed.

Thinking about noodle and chocolate binges is making me feel queasy lol
*hates noodles and chocolate without moderation*

And gaah I hope I don't get a Fresher Flu lol, it's going to suck if I have to catch up study from sickness right at the beginning of the year! XD

I asked the Otago helpline for my password but they said I won't get it until after course approval O.o" How do you guys know your ones? I don't know what it is supposed to be so I can't go on PIMS (which btw, at first looked like "PMS" to me before I squinted at the screen lol)

Well you don't have to worry about PIMS if you can't login yet. I mean there's not much to see on there lol. It'll say the same for everyone, that course approval has yet to be done, and it just has your contact details and stuff. The only thing you need from PIMS is your study timetable which doesn't go up until you've done course approval, and later on your paper results.

Weighed umat @ Otago

hey guys, does anyone know how much each section in the umat is worth at otago. I think section 1 and 2 is worth more than sec3 but could someone give me percentages. I read someone that sec1 and 2 are 45% each and Sec3 is 10% but on the glossary in MSO it says that sec1 is worth 50% while sec 2 and 3 are worth 25% each... a bit lost. This stuff is useful in working out how much (approximate) time to devote to each section..obviously this varies depending on how you find each section but i think it would still help.

cheers..

Last year it was 45% 45% and 10% respectively. 100% sure on this because the guidelines for admission into 2009 courses stated this explicitly (and got told that too after emailing them). The MSO stuff on Otago is a bit inaccurate in some places. The HSFY thread has all the info for last year.
