Just as a bit of an aside... has anyone complied a list of dates for this semester's HSFY tests? It would help me to organise my mentor group at the hall I'm at. If someone has done it it will save me some time, otherwise I'll just pester one of the mentor-ees to do it heh.

They are all listed in the Physics timetable - well, at least the 1st sem ones are.

Eugh Commerce 2.03 :/ Gonna have fun finding that!

How do these terms tests work btw? Do we all just sit in the lecture theatres side by side? It'd be pretty easy to cheat then wouldn't it?

haha I loved that 'vacuum cleaners don't suck, the world blows' quote too.

The tests have 4 versions (each with questions in different order), and are given like so:
Row 1: A(empty seat)B(empty seat)A(empty seat)B
Row 2: C(empty seat)D(empty seat)C(empty seat)D
Row 3: A(empty seat)B(empty seat)A(empty seat)B
Row 4: C(empty seat)D(empty seat)C(empty seat)D

So as you can see, not only will there be an empty seat on either side of you, you will always have one person between you and someone else doing the same version of the test.

EDIT: And for the final exam... Well there's only one version in the finals, but not only will you have an empty seat next to you, you will also find an empty row in front and behind you.

The different versions completely escaped my mind. And they are colour coded! Wow. Double Rainbow.

Just a question. At Auckland, the only difference in versions is the order of questions in the MCQ, however, the questions are the same. Is it similar at Otago?
Yes

Isn't that a little unfair? I mean, perhaps you got the version of the test that had that one obscurer question that no-one knew, but everyone else's version did not.
The questions are the same for everyone.

It's just what might be Q1 in one version is Q7 in another with the 4 options rearranged (e.g. the previous ABCD becomes DBAC).

Thanks League + Cathay :D

Wait so do we have our final exams in the lecture theatres as well? For some reason I always imagined they'd be in these massive echoey halls with wooden floors and really high ceilings, and we'd have desks and chairs and every once in a while a supervisor would walk past and glare at us...

They're in all sorts of places really, lecture theatres, classrooms... I had my HUBS 192 exam in the commerce building...

Depends really... Some of your exams might be in lecture theatres, others might be in labs (not on lab benches, they're too uncomfortable - you'll get desks and chairs), the PE Department Old Gym (which will have desks and chairs laid out... wooden floors, high ceilings, supervisor walks past once in a while), and just all sorts of places in general.
