I find lecturers that go at a slow pace increadibly frustrating personally. The action potential lady was the worst in this regard then this new lady. It annoys me how she waits for people to copy stuff down, the point of blackboard is so you shouldn't be aiming for word perfect notes from the lecture, that can be altered later

Im really keen to get the regular study group going again. I really think that it could be helpful. Do people not like saturdays? maybe sundays? thoughts?

Glad you brought that up pete...I'm really eager to get back into it. Let's book this Sunday, 2pm? I think we should dedicate a lot of time purely to CELS...I think we could benefit hugely, especially given that skyglow got 100% in CELS...lol xD

Can someone book please? Central library preferrably

For CELS all the advice I can give is to perfectly understand and learn everything in all the slides word for word and to always think in the short answer "what do they want me to write" or "what do they want me to demonstrate" rather than "what's the answer to this question?"

If you truly understand a concept you don't need to memorise the slides word for word. You guys have way too much on your plate/I don't think you're as crazy as skyglow/rote-learning is ugh.

@I'monaboat: yes, I'm going. Hope to see you there, whoever you are lol.

We even asked Caroline Beck - she said almost exactly what skyglow is saying >.<

Something along the lines of "Do you want to get into Med? If so, learn every slide word for word". CELS is crazy.

@Arutha: Yeah I think it would be interesting to go. Ok I guess I will see you there. I wonder if skyglow1 is going?

I totally think that CELS is rote learning. But I don't think that makes it crazy. It makes learning the curriculum way easier dont you think?

It depends on how much your brain wants to take in. It may be easy but theres a saturation point where nothing else seems to be absorbed

Yup I'm going. I hardly go out anyway so it'll be good lol. We learnt in behavioural med that the brain has no known limit for holding info

I'm pretty sure that is up to the individual brain. But I believe that you retain everything in your subconscious. You just have a hard time getting to it. You just need to work out what works for you.

That's better than me last year lol. I wanted to hit myself for my mid term test results last year

29/30? Man thats awesome.

I got better though. Hahahaha :P
Or did I?

Lol the HSFYs are paranoid enough :P

Did it also teach you why some methods fail at holding info? and which method is best for retaining it?

As I'mOnABoat already said it's a highly individual thing. Koochkooch for instance found that memorising stuff while having someone else to bounce ideas off each other helped immensely, while for me that wouldn't be helpful at all.

Yeah I found that I'm a solo flyer when it came to studying. But I was more than willing to help people (and myself) by going over things with people around.

When are people free? What times are available? Any time after 2pm is good for me

Lol you guys need to book way way earlier in advance if you're gonna get a room. I normally book my rooms a week in advanced (a week in advanced is the earliest you can book them).

We can get later times easier If people want. Although at the moment it might just be a 2 person study group haha
