Hello, I am a 2021 graduate with an ATAR of atleast 99.6 (could be 99.75 depending on how QTAC handles IB to atar conversions this year) but I am a 99.75 in other states. I have a UCAT of 2750 and I am a non-rural standard applicant. Am I completely screwed, what are my options? I know JCU is an option but is there any other UNI's that will likely give me an interview ?

I’m pretty sure CQU and Southern Queensland university won’t if you are not a 2022 school leaver due to their affiliation with UQ

Given you sat the IB prior to November 2022, 44 equates to a 99.75 ATAR regardless of your position within the grade boundaries.

QTAC has confirmed that they will apply the same system as UAC in relation to pre November 2022.

Hey guys, do you think that 2900 (85th percentile), non-rural, no EAS, interstate, domestic, school leaver, A-Levels A*A*A* in Math Bio Chem should hopefully be >99.5 ATAR would have a chance at getting interviews for any undergrad med programs. I'll go anywhere. Applied for BMP where I could. If its unlikely I'll get any interviews what are my other options do I have for next year.

For UCAT-based unis, it's a very very low chance, if not impossible. I assume you're from NZ, considering your A-levels, so you would actually not be eligible for BMPs. You can apply for them, yes, but you would not be eligible so you would not get the final offer in the end, even if you sit an interview.

For non-UCAT unis, you'd have a good chance if your ATAR can be even higher. Otherwise, no, you would probably not get an interview.

- Griffith uni med requires a (99.80-99.85+ ATAR)
- JCU (your ATAR is good here, but there is a huge emphasis on rural and tropical medicine + clinical experiences. The written application and interview are very important here).
- Bond (your ATAR is good, but it's only worth it if you can afford it).

I assume you're from NZ, considering your A-levels, so you would actually not be eligible for BMPs. You can apply for them, yes, but you would not be eligible so you would not get the final offer in the end, even if you sit an interview.

2-From previous years data, realistically what GPA is needed to have a reasonable chance for these universities? collected data is limited for nonstandard pathway "invited for interview" and "offers" list.

This information is all available in the threads for you to look up.

And we only use previous years data to inform our advice so it’s derived from what’s in the interview and offers collated data that you’ve already looked at.

Sorry to bother with this question but I was concerned regarding what my son's chances were for an interview invite to UNSW medicine.
He is first year uni, interstate and non rural
He graduated high school last year with an ATAR of 99.6
He completed the UCAT this year with a score of 3070 (94th percentile)
He is on a gpa of 7 for his first semester of uni so far

Hi!!!

I reckon he has a good chance for an interview, given both his ATAR, UCAT and GPA.

Whilst there have been suspicions that a 7.00 GPA converts to less than a 99.50? selection rank, we know his ATAR is above that threshold so I think he’ll get an invite along with his UCAT, which was above the 90th percentile.

Hey guys - Probably a question I know the answer to - but checking my luck nonetheless. We missed the fixed closing date for USq Med- not knowing they are offering a course. Is there any chances in your past experiences that you heard were successful in getting through after the closing date - Similarly for Griffith Dent- we didnt know it was a fixed closing date. Quite sad now. Her ucat was over what others are getting offers for

Nope. I’d say next to no chance. The fixed dates are pretty set and the unis always have more applications than spots on offer. There’s no need for them to bend the rules. We have people report falling into this trap every year and I’ve never heard of someone being successful in their request to be considered, which I think is perfectly reasonable and understandable from the uni, tbh, as that would open a huge can of worms.

Sorry if I'm being irrelevant here, but when they (WSU) say interviews will be held on Zoom, they mean that you're online, but the interviewers are at their respective unis right, regardless of where you end up? Or is this a remnant from the COVID era? I'm confused, as it kinda sounds like you're supposed to go to the interview locations
